Demons aren't invincible or anything. Normal humans can do that stuff just fine. In Eternal the ARC fought off Hell for 14 years with just futuristic tech and human persistence.

It's just exaggeration from the Sentinels. The point is just that Doomguy was ultra mega dedicated to killing a bunch of demons, and by becoming the Slayer, he was able to kill demons faster and more brutally.

It's not an actual objective indication of some sort of magical ability he has. It's just flowery speech to say "he got really strong."

An infinite lifespan, yes. Not total immortality. You could still theoretically kill him.

There's no doubt that he's very strong, but gameplay contrivances have to be taken into account. In Eternal the Slayer can punch around steel blocks, but he also deals almost zero damage to enemies when he punches normally.

Consider a cutscene in 2016: the Slayer comes face-to-face with Olivia Pierce, whom he knows he's gotta kill, but he can't because they're separated by a pane of glass. Granted, it's probably very strong glass, but I would argue that indicates canonically the Slayer would not be able to just punch his way through the glass.

This I can't chalk up to a gameplay contrivance since it is a cutscene.

The Slayer has no qualms killing humans if they're evil or helping Hell.

This is incorrect. This is not an ability of the Slayer. It's a function of the Praetor Suit, as an explanation for why you get health pickups when killing demons.

Well, consider the source you're getting it from. The Slayer's Testaments for example cannot be 100% reliable because it's flowery religious scripture from demons. It's dramatic as fuck. That's not to say they're necessarily lying, but that the Testaments are describing events that happened eons ago, and the demons naturally hype up the Slayer as a revered and feared enemy.

You just have to consider subjectivity. Again, another example - Elena Richardson's logs have her call the Slayer a God and basically start falling in love with him as some kind of godly idol who is perfect and is gonna lead humanity into salvation and shit.

This does not confirm the Slayer is a literal God. He's not. But from a normal human's perspective, he will seem like one. So she calls him one.

The whole theme of people thinking he's a God extends even beyond him. Probably the most-repeated theme in Eternal is false Gods. The Slayer, the Khan Maykr, the Father, and Davoth all have people calling them God or Gods, and they're treated like them. But none of them actually are.

The Khan is just the leader of a bunch of robots. The Father is just a super advanced AI, who might have made the Earthly Realms with other advanced machines. Davoth was the "first being," but he was functionally just a really strong dude who built a bunch of robots.

I really respect that the franchise has been exploring themes of what lengths people will go to in order to establish power and control over others, and how doomguy/the slayer is actively working to dismantle those power structures
