I cant wait for Doom TDA, but I have a small gripe. It is about customization of the Slayer. I played Halo Reach recebtly and you can customiue Noble 6 the way you want him or her to be. Why couldnt we get that in TDA. The Slayer is supposed to be the player. I just feel more could have been done, and not just give us preset skins for it.

When you get Earthly Realm shit into the equation it's a bit rougher to tell, but in regards to the modern world humans are 100% Sentinel descendants. The Codex mentions that the Sentinels had colonized several planets under the banner of the Maykrs, and Earth was one of them. You can even find hints to this, like Hell on Earth featuring an ancient bell for a clock tower with Sentinel writing engraved on it.

Doom 3 introduced the Martians, and thus the Sentinels; in that game, it's also heavily implied Martians are the ancestors of humans, and that humans exist because some Martians fled to Earth after the demon invasion of Mars in the past.

Considering the Sentinels can apparently travel between dimensions, I would argue it's a safe assumption that all humans across all Earthly Realms are descendants of the Sentinels, and that this was achieved by interdimensional travel allowing them to colonize several different planets.

Also note that in 2016/Eternal it is common and expected that human life exists elsewhere in the solar system. When mentioning concepts like religion, the ARC takes care not to mention just Earth but the entire galaxy.

An example, from the Urdak Codex file:

Similarities can also be drawn to multiple pan-galactic religions, indicating that the Maykr's influence was not limited to Argent D'Nur, and that over eons their influence has spread across the galaxy, and potentially the universe. Some imagery is akin to religious icons in the Orion-Cygnus arm of the Milky Way, an area which includes Earth.

I would argue Urdak and the UAC are just two different flavors of the same evil bullshit, and that specific thing is something Hell has a lot of experience with. False gods and subjugation of "lessers" to serve a higher purpose. Bureaucratic narcissism. That mixes with Hell pretty well.

I do not believe his actions in 2016 served a higher purpose for the Seraphim. I don't think he was secretly planning for TAG's events or anything. As far as I'm concerned, Samuel wasn't aware of his true identity until he spent some time inside the Fortress of Doom's mainframe.

I don't necessarily think it's confirmed or anything, just my opinion, but mainly because:

1. I don't care for the idea that Samuel is secretly plotting X, Y, and Z during 2016 as the Seraphim. I think it makes some of his actions not make much sense - for example, as the Seraphim, he should know more than well that the Slayer would've destroyed the filters in the Argent Facility level; he doesn't because he doesn't know the Slayer well enough yet.

2. We see a progression where Samuel slowly "knows" more as he begins approaching the hardware of a Maykr. He got the bulk of his work on Mars done when he became a cyborg, but when he is uploaded into the Fortress he suddenly knows exactly where Deag Grav would be hiding, something only the Seraphim would know - as the game goes on he becomes more concerned about Urdak's union with Hell, and then the Seraphim's revival. To me, this comes across like a gradual unlocking of memories - almost like Samuel always had Samur's "hard drive" within him, but he couldn't access most of it until he got more RAM. The robot body and the Fortress are progressive steps forward to understanding who he is.

3. Hugo Martin emphasizes the idea that the Maykrs go insane during Transfiguration because they turn into flesh, and that flesh cannot hold their complex minds like a machine can. It is explicitly said that Samur became human while on Earth; thus, naturally, it follows that he would not have really been the same after that, as the human Samuel wouldn't have been capable of remembering or understanding the Seraphim's life without going fucking nuts.

But now(not confirmed) there's no claseic baron, and I have to ask myself, how exactly is this the largest roster in all of doom. My dissapointment would also be heightened by the fact that they would manage to have a large roster that for some reason does not incorporate all the og demons due to tedhnical limitations, which would also suck. I'm just going to wait ofc, but tthey better not be lying, because variants(reskins) do not count

Doom was directly inspired by DnD. OG ID thought DnD was cool, they saw Evil Dead so they thought chainsaws and double barrel shotguns were cool, and thrash metal was cool. So they put all those things in the game.
