The Archvile sound effects would have been peak if it was in TDA. I would have been badass asf but we got other, even tankier demons and honestly, finding a way to implement the Archvile without you riping it appart instantly because your are a litteral tank now or destroying most of the summoned demons in 3 to 5 button presses would have been hard

Maybe making only the back of it's armor destroyable and him being tall asf could have been good

Got a question, I purchased Doom:TDA back in January before they came out with the premium edition and want to get it, but would I just be out of luck because I'm way past the refund date for the base game and getting the premium says i wouldn't receive an extra copy? Oh yeah. I wanted to upgrade my PC because I want dark ages to look as good as I can make it with my mid tier budget, and when I first started shopping Nvidia cards I was absolutely irritated by the price points, and lack of availability. I was in a call with my friend about it and with him I said, "what about AMD?" IT was instantly so much better. Lots of options, and prices I could afford. Then the tariffs happened. Sucky coincidence, but AMD did deliver the launch at MSRP.

Oh it's definitely the slayers testament. The title screen music is even called "When the Shadows First Lengthened." Hugo has said that's effectively what this is.

in dark ages it looks like there's a "resolution scaling" target fps option so i guess the game dynamically changes resolution to try and keep a consistent framerate

In the Slayer's Testament files. They are depicting the Slayer's rampage through Hell after the fall of Argent D'Nur. TDA is set before the fall of Argent D'Nur, as evidenced by the fact that you can see it and there's people in it.

The placement of TDA in the timeline isn't a subjective thing, we have enough info from the trailer to definitively know when it is. It's during the Unholy Wars, before the Argenta Civil War, which was itself before the fall of Argent D'Nur, which was before the Slayer's Testament events.

Okay I understand that. I think i was misconstruing something said in the Dev Direct, where it was said you would feel like you were expanding the legend of the slayer. I took that to mean you were essentially living out the Slayer's Testament. It probably doesn't help that the title screen music is called "When the Shadow's First Lengthened. Cause I don't think it's a stretch to say that we are probably experiencing tyhe first battle, when the shadows first lengthened.

But I am now in agreement. These would be the Unholy Crusades we are experiencing. My time frame for all of it was too narrow.
