2016 dealt a lot of damage to the series and in turn it's because of Brutal Doom. It's as if now every game has to be generic futuristic sci-fi slop with overdesigned corridors and unbalanced weapons to grant power fantasy to the player in a silver platter.

Any deviation from that is unwelcome. Game must not have color, must not be too fast, must not look or play like the classic games or else it's cartoony and unrealistic and therefore bad.

This would sell very well for relatively little effort. You just port the game, better resolution, better FPS, add music and Spirits from games that came out after Ultimate. Maybe extra skins too. "Here's enhanced Smash Ultimate with 200 more songs, a couple dozen bonus skins, and the DLC fighters in the base game."
If you have the work, I'm sure an extra few fighters and stages would help. But even without that, this alone would sell pretty damn well.

If the Dark Ages gets a moddable version, I know that people will mod the Atlans and I'm excited and scared at the same time of what will modders do

You do that, you're giving new life to the game and bolstering its scene, get tons of money for it, basically just for tweaking some numbers, porting some MP3s, and making some new models.
