This game will probably be the most divisive among the 3 modern Doom games. I think a lot more people will love it than not, but I wonât be surprised if a lot of Eternal/2016 fans dislike it.
Personally, Iâm a little unsure about the melee system in general. It looks fun, it looks cool, but I donât see much depth to it. Again, not much to go off of. Iâll also miss the brutality of those GK animations, but I like that theyâre pushing for more combat fluidity.

But if itâs just the same 3-4 animations, with the demon getting gibbed, thatâs a little boring imo. Not a deal breaker but definitely a downgrade from regular GKs.

Itâs a close range weapon, has spread, one full auto shot at point blank range should stagger and it should only take 2 to kill at best
Thing is im up close and personal when fighting at all times during eternal, so idk what gives
Small hitbox, bullets donât hit, or maybe aim punch
But here's a quick run down of why I consider tag2 enemies broken
Armored barons: lack decision making in many positions relative to the player, breaks when buffed, weak point doesn't function correctly and some AI from the regular baron transfers over making it weird
Screecher: lacks proper pathing often, gets stuck in geo and enemies and will self destruct for no reason
Cursed prowlers: (these dudes mostly suck an insane amount, but they're also pretty broken) they will despawn post-curse and break their own pathing tons, even more than they fix it, making them very broken

Mind you I don't think the use of RT will be that intrusive on the low end. I'm assuming that they're targeting 1080p 60fps on the Series S, the GPU in which is roughly RDNA2, which is... not renowned for it's RT performance even on the higher end cards. It's likely a case that where they're using RT will be at a degree you could do it through software with some driver witchcraft but get rather meh performance from it. I've seen people running the new Indiana Jones game on a Vega 64 using some whacked out drivers on Linux, but it was sub 60fps at minimum settings.
This is to say I don't think performance will be a big deal as long as you do have something at least Turing (full SM) or RDNA2 based (because if not it probably won't launch by default).
That still leaves the argument of whether games should be built like this at all, which I don't think I could have an unbiased take on.
Vote with your wallets I suppose, if they've made the call too early it'll probably appear in their sales.

When I heard "sandbox" I understood that it could be an open world, not that it will be an open world. DOOM Eternal was very well optimized compared to 2016, I had a PC under requirements and yet I could run DOOM Eternal more smoothly than 2016. So if ID did they job well TDA will be well optimized and you could play it with a PC under official requirements

Well check your components on the website "Can You Run It" and see if there is too much difference between your PC and minimal requirements. If it's just under minimal you could maybe still run the game with minimal graphic options, but if it's way under minimal you could just wait to get a better PC and get the game cheaper in 1 year or later

I feel like after TDA I could go back to Eternal easily and appreciate its approach still, the muscle memory I built from that game would still remain. 2016 however is already tough to go back to after it, TDA might as well be what completely kills it off for me.

I loved the multiplayer for DOOM (2016) but Eternals battlemode was not my cup of tea.

In my opinion, doom games being slower and more straightforward with a bunch of enemies and not having to quick swap every two seconds in my opinion is better. I love slower action games and the difficulty slider will be amazing cause the amount of reckless things Iâm gonna do with that will be so fun this is all my opinion.
also people should keep in mind, i said this like 3 times now, trailers are usually slower than gameplay
TDA seems like its gonna be similar to god of war but with guns which i sure as fuck am up for, with the slower combat and such

so it cant focus on being uncontrollable
what if godmode IS some sort of slayer controlling thingie, or a way to control him
