Open Metaverse Interoperability Group is a group set out to "bolster the metaverse as an open and interoperable resource for anyone, inspired by the collaborative efforts of the community", with metaverse here basically being used as a synonym for cyberspace.
They don't want any one company to be taking up all of what the metaverse means, so they look for ways that different services can interoperate as part of a wider system that people are free to hook into.
Right now I'm sitting in a meeting on their Discord, as I try to do most weeks, and you can too from their website!
And this week, one member on their Discord wants to recruit some people for his own specific project, in particular he wants people who are good with blender python scripting because that would be "Really useful for the kinda pipelines being built for documentation." There's probably some kind of crypto blockchain stuff involved in the project he's recruiting for, in case you have any particular opinions of your own for or against that stuff. As a whole there's not that much of a consensus in the OMI community on it, and generally we're trying to get interoperability working to the point where people only have to directly use stuff they actually trust.

You know what, I'm not sure if dumping a wall of text to send people off to a website with a Discord where someone I'm only mildly familiar with from sitting in on meetings might recruit you to a second Discord is really anything I can expect to be effectual, but ah well.
