Swapped out another ferret's appointment and took Willow.
Specialist vet called during the regular vet appointment. So we had a 3 way chat. Specialist vet said she thought Willow either has hypothyroidism (which would be fantastic) , or a cancer that mimics hypothyroidism and wants to do more testing to test T4 levels, and that it really looks like it is, but it's also very rare.
The vet-in-training people were very interested as it's an unusual case.
Current vet thinks it is hypothyroidism, so she wants to draw blood to send off for testing, and then start doing a test run treatment.

This is good news, I thought I'd be making a "final appointment", for Willow and very soon. There is hope.

Dosing will apparently be a challenge because it would be such a small dose

in Germany, we have quite strict breeding rules for ferrets - at least if you want to be "approved" (and get like 5 times the money), and it does improve the survivability of ferrets here... but the rate of tumors is still very high compared to other pets... you cant just undo hundreds of years of bad breeding in a couple of generations...

im not sure what real wabsabi tastes like, its always been, basically green horseradish.

cause yeh most of them use "wasabi" which is basically just horseradish dyed green

it looks like this, you use a really fine grater/plane to grind it into a paste. it's potent for about 30 ish min and then kinda stops being spicy

and you can get tube wasabi that has actual wasabi in it but it's usually a combination of real wasabi, horseradish and mustard powder to keep the spicy potency

The lifetime of wasabi is quite interesting in regards to how long it lasts even when using preservatives

we have both options,
birthday was added since the start of the wiki and is just month + day. Later i added the first possible leap year (1004 for mysql db) to it, so i can store it as actual date and do efficient/easy calculations within the query.
And we have birthdate which holds the full date, if known, and shows a dynamic calculated age as months if under 1 year old and then full years.

if known, you could add them as well. There is nothing that can be broken. I throw them into a parser for formatting dates and if there is anything wrong you will have a visual response, plus it will format them always the same and the input format doesn't matter. And the parser takes all kind of dates. For Beefy it doesn't matter if you add 2021-02-20, 20 Feb 2021, 20-2-2021, 2021/2/20 or even 20.2.2026
