They are, but they're for people who need a service dog that also live a very active lifestyle! One example I've seen was someone who went on superlong hikes during the weekends and evenings, but also had either type 1 diabetes or seizures, I don't remember. That dog got TONS of exercise while also working, it was very cool to see, but they are definitely not the right service dog breed for everyone

Correct my dog that recently passed was a registered emotional support animal they have different rules than a service animal. I just needed my dog to be able to come with me when i traveled cause she kept track of my medication schedule. I didnt need to drag her with me into stores n restaurants n stuff like that

yeah it is medical alert but in order for her to be a service dog she would of needed to go through a class, which was about 2k at the time, in order to get approved. I didnt have that kind of money so i went the cheaper route. Some places were kind enough to allow her in but i always asked permission first. I just didnt walk in with her cause she wore a special vest n had an ID people could scan with their phones to acknowledge she was an actual emotional support dog. I respected the rules n limits

@tall path some practical advice I'm seeking: there are some stray cats that have been showing up on our porch thanks to a nearby neighbor. These cats have fleas. What do you recommend I do to keep the fleas away from us and Snoot? We use the ferret flea prevention stuff on amazon. Is there anything I can treat my porch with that wont harm the cats?
You manage nearly 60 ferrets, if anyone were to know how to take care of fleas vs ferrets, it will be you.
Also for anyone concerned, Snoot currently is flea-free, no eggs, larvae, or full grown fleas.
I found one in the house the other day.
He is also current on his flea prevention doses.

I wonder if a light dusting of diatomaceous earth over your porch would work. Fleas can jump around 5-8 inches so you'd need a fairly wide area to be effective against them, not sure how well that would work in a high traffic area like a porch.

My understanding was that cats and dogs might sniff it out of curiosity but the worst it would do is irritate the nose enough to make them sneeze. Unless they put their face in it and inhale it like a coke line, its not really going to get into their lungs in enough quantity to have any effect.
Walking in it or rolling in it shouldn't be any different than fine dirt.
But, of course, if you have any doubts ask a vet or someone with in depth knowledge in it.

Oh also curly hair tarantulas are good specifically from the tliltocatl family (Tliltocatl albopilosus)
Most tliltocatl spiders can get up to 4-6 inches legspan
I would recommend getting a sub-adult sexed female regardless of what you end up deciding on though, until you have more experience

SERIOUS PSA: I am lucky I am a mother.
Snoot was just choking.
He did his stupid fast eating thing. And he was choking.
First I was freaked out.
Then I grabbed him.
I flipped him like if you had a newborn choking and I gave him sorta hard but not too hard of pats and gentle squeezes around his belly area. He coughed like and a gunk of kibble and I guess snot came out.
I called his emergency vet number and they said if he seems ok (he does, not coughing now, breathing fine) I dont have to rush him, but if it changes I'll take him in
I'm lucky it must not have been too far down it took him 4 good coughs to get it out
This is why it's important to monitor pets.

Sorry, no, this is bs. What exactly is checking the kibble going to do? Verify it is kibble that came out of the bag and not petrified broccoli? Doing so won't have any effect on preventing an animal from eating too fast and choking. You could try breaking the kibble into smaller chunks but that won't eliminate the chance of choking.

Paw, warm them first and apply a very thin layer of Vaseline to stop the blood from running so you get a nice bead
