I kinda do my best to help her process and think through things. A lot of people, in the US especially, try to shield children from everything completely negative. But it's detrimental because then when they've never experienced anything negative, and then something out of anyone's control does happen, they have 0 coping or safe processing skills to help them. It causes more trauma because of the hard impact.
Sorry if this got soap boxy, but I am mainly just trying to share how I've maybe helped her to this point.
It's inevitable that bad things will happen, and I cannot shield her from everything even if I wanted to.
I think that its sweet and a good healthy sign she showed such love and compassion towards torch. And she will probably still have sad moments, and I will help her through those too.

I mean it's never too late to learn coping and processing skills.
You start small. Literally something like a bad day, and instead of doing negative reinforcement, like shutting down or what I call a retrograde detrimental coping device (I'm sad so I buy something i cant afford/ I am upset so I'm going to act entitled etc for example)
INSTEAD of these responses, you take a big deep breath or several if you have to. You then pause for the briefest of moments and realize that yes this is negative but you can work through this. Think positively, do your best to do positive care for yourself that doesn't involve immediate reward. Like take a shower or do something short to relax and unwind.
Just small things like this is what I teach her

I'm trying to figure out how best to display everything. The dropdown works fine for selecting which one you want to see yourself, but for having the active playgroup set by a mod, I'm not sure how best to display it
if it's a new tab then it'll be hard to illustrate to users what that tab means without adding a bunch of extra text everywhere
and if it's a dropdown option it might be too obscure?
or rather unclear how it works

If anyone remembers, during sweet old lady Sushis last appointment, at first they didn't have any blankets or anything for ferrets/ other small pets to grasp on to.. so when they received anesthesia, they "thrashed" because they were panicked, and trying to get out of the scary bad smelling box.. thankfully husband had her blankets and asked them to put them in there for comfort...
Well apparently the doctor was unaware of this practice, and she was furious, and asked "why the hell are we not using blankets with anesthesia?"
Apparently the anesthesia tech was trained by another tech, and the doctor said "and apparently, the person training her have her some stupid reason why they shouldn't use blankets" and profusely apologized, hah. That made me respect her more that she was angry about it
This happened during today's ferret appointment (Gizmo)
