Good to know. That's part of what i've been researching right now.
I've had my two boys already for 6 months without issue.
I'm looking at budgeting replacing cages and such. My first two came with a full Ferret Nation Double. But Cornchip appears to have come with the yaheetech, or something similar? At least it looks like the owner was aware of the problem of falling down the middle, and the put in stuff like scratching posts to block that worry more.
About all i know about him is that his bond mate died of gonad cancer, and this guy was a free-roamer at the house of a pair of 19 year olds who were on their third breakup of each other this quarter, and that he got a clean bill of health from the vet, getting checked out when his partner was sick.

Being able to get hands on the gear and twist knobs can make a huge difference... Essentially you just split up each of the parts that exist in a "normal" synth into modules, giving you far more control over everything.
Not just things like control over functions, but the order the audio follows and what specific type of thing is being used at each step

Grr, couldn't figure out why the Cornchip didn't wanna eat after finishing the food he came with. Turns out, the people who passed him to me told me the wrong food, only found out when they sent me a picture, and looks like i can't get it shipped till tomorrow morning.
Looks like im gonna be supplementing with duck soup overnight, and seeing if i can find anything meaty he's willing to eat, unless there are better suggestions.
While i want to get them all onto raw, i haven't been able to yet, and they're all still on kibble. Just turns out the new boy's on a different one.

Cornchip was happy with the duck soup. Was a touch worried, since one i've got, Eggo, will not eat anything but his kibble. Even salmon oil, and even fresh salmon (Socks went nuts for it)
On the plus side, the resource linked earlier suggested using EVO for super picky ferrets like that, and while Eggo doesn't seem like... motivated by it, he didn't act like i was feeding him cactuses made of lava either.

The reason the mod ticket system was created way back when was to resolve certain kinds of conflicts (like users being jerks, or political discussions popping up etc) without driving public attention to em to prevent it from growing even further out of control.

Whelp. about 80% sure i'm getting an extra pair of girl wigglers in 3 days. Their current owner wasn't able to get out of going to jail. Heh.
They asked us to foster them, and it's like "You're going in for a nickle. Both of these marshall ferrets are ~5 years old. If they're lucky enough to still be alive when you get out, giving them back to you would just be confusion and unhappiness for them and you. But, i'll take em, and keep em, and make sure they're loved and happy"
Unfortunatly, due to space constraints, that means i've got to hurry up Cornchip's introduction to Eggo and Socks slightly. I got him on the 4th, with a clean bill of health from his vet.
Tomorrow it'll have been a week, and no health issues have popped up. Hopefully scent trading goes well enough that i can put the cages in the same (1200sq ft foot) room by the time the girls show up.

I think i've found the right sizes to print hamster tubes at, for ferrets. I've got a short little path put together for them, and all of them wanted to go in, but stopped about half way in. I think it's cause they're opaque, and they can't see. (The pair of tubes together are about 2 feet long)
So, next payday... Tranparent PETG, several rolls. Pretty sure they'll be ok with opaque connectors.

Considering the people i got him from, i considerd that it could have been cheeto dust too, so he hopped through the shower with me last night. He managed to get compeletely wet, before i kicked him out so i could use soap, and he's still that color. Heh.

Probably shouldn't have (and wouldn't if not for the impending girls needing a place), but after doing sent trading last night, i walked cornchip through the house. He, Eggo, and Socks had decent interactions thru the cage, so i took a risk, and put em in a room together. No fighting, no tussling. lots of sniffing. I only gave em like 5 minutes per pairing. Bout to toss some short videos up.
There's only one with eggo. The rest are all socks. Which, honestly i expected, socks is a lot more social than eggo.

I'm now 100% sure tho, that i can put their cages in a room together with no problems, as long as they're supervised closely when out together.

in a video (can't find it) kent (kingsdown) showed one of his light colored ferrets and said that they could turn almost full orange because of oils. iirc. when they get into season.
Edit: Keep in mind, kent is a breeder and has non neutered ferrets.

That makes sense, and tracks with the earlier suggestion. Im gonna be watching him carefully as we head towards summer.
I do plan on setting up a small streaming area for them, partly because the previous owners of cornchip asked for it, and partly just to see if i can subsidize their food a tiny bit that way.
I wonder how it correlates to hormones, Cornchip is by far the most passive ferret i've met so far.
