Hello fellow ferret-enjoyers 🙂
Volunteering led to game dev ideas to support a particular charity/community, which led me to Thor's heartening content for motivation and, in turn, the ferrets. FerretSoftware is living proof that some of the ideas I've been pondering/planning are decent and hold potential, and so I created a thing that just went live yesterday
I made a reddit post for the community it was originally designed for and the org I've been volunteering with. You'll see a paragraph where I describe our ferret community - it's unmistakeable - though not by name. (due to the unfortunate behaviour that's been directed at Thor recently - I didn't want to include easily searchable terms that could draw that toxicity to yet another community) I'll include a link to the post for the curious
Over the past few months I've come to feel quite at home here, enjoying the positivity and good-natured and loving chaos that the goblins can bring about from time to time. It's due to this that I couldn't help but incorporate some goblin functions and tributes into what I've designed, haha
I actually believe that twitch and other content/streaming platforms hold much greater potential for driving positive change on a large scale than what we've seen so far, as well as some interesting and enjoyable uses of the platforms to engage with people in new and exciting ways...with any luck I'll start manifesting some of those over the course of the year ahead
If you read the post, please let me know what you think of how I summed up our community here. If you're like me and generally have several tabs open to support the streams of different people & initiatives, and if what I'm up to tickles your fancy enough that you want to join in, make sure that you use !cause FerretSoftware in chat so that your participation will wind up coming back to us here

If any of you do choose this as a second tab kind of thing you'll want to mute the tab (or at least turn it down low) - knowing that Thor supports the use of the Hearbound soundtrack for personal/non-commercial streaming purposes I bought it and have it as the main playlist...you won't want that duelling with your main ferret soundtrack, haha (and the vibes will shift from time to time, with a few small artists having granted permission to showcase/play their tracks as well)

I still don't believe it, as whenever I mute my partners' stream when I'm the only viewer it IMMEDIATELY drops to 0 viewers 🥲 But this has been long since debated everywhere you go and no one can agree on the truth 🤷♀️ 😅 I know I'm not the only one who had this as a result of testing though, REddit is full of people with the same experiences, so I just put it on 1% to be sure 😅

It is the case that twitch will only count two or three (not quite sure on the numbers) viewers for any stream from each IP address. Muted streams may be the first to be dropped from active viewers when you have more streams open.

Yes, you will only be counted as a viewer for up to 2 streams at a time, but this was when I was the only one watching his stream (his own account wasn't) and he was also the only stream I had open, so wouldn't make sense to drop me in that case 🤔

CityFibre is only the company that lays down the connections, they don't do anything else and they can't even do THAT right, it's really upsetting. The ISP's are all relying on them to have the network available, we were supposed to have fibre 2 years ago, that's when they tore up the road and put all the proper cables in the ground, never connected the buildings and now no one can reach them somehow>_>

Oh yeah, love me some nyquist sampling theorem, although the reason for why the sampling frequency must be double that of the frequency you're measuring is a little different. Had a scare with sweet old lady Sushi. She was eating, then the pointed her face at the ground, she was making sounds. Not sure if there was something stuck in her throat. She started frantically drinking water. I called the vet. The vet was on a plane. Lady referred me to another animal hospital. Thankfully it cleared up mid phone call. Have an appointment tomorrow with the other animal hospital. So we are going to have a backup vet in case something happens and noone can be reached. I was getting very upset
I have woken up to a passed away ferret who died from cancer. But i think it would literally kill me if it happened in some accident and I couldn't do anything but watch and hold them

Ferrets are very sociable animals, if this is your only ferret then most likely you are that social anchor for it. With you being away from it for quite some time might result in it getting depressed since it misses the playtime with you. In general it is advised to have at least 2, preferable 3 ferrets so they can form a social group which often combats this problem. For a more in depth answer I suggest asking one of the caretakers through a #ferret-ticket or send a !tts to Thor on stream with your question.

Even at the start of the stream there are sometimes about 100 messages within the first hour of stream and thor may not even get to react to all of them.
