I have a small question. Does anyone have advice about getting picky ferrets to eat new food? I did the mixing old and new food trick, but they're really smart and just picked out the food they liked, leaving out the new food they need to eat. I got them expensive ferret diet food for the tummyaches they keep having, but they only want the food my cat eats. 🥹

We took in a 7 year old ferret named Copper because his owner went off to college, and we didn't want him to spend his last few months at the local rescue (because they don't get much time outside their cage there) As many of you know the average life expectancy for a store bought ferret is about 7 years. We got about 4 months with him. It wasn't nearly enough 😢

When we built our new house, we got two bedrooms for the ferrets. No matter where you put them, they will always want to get outside of that area. We ferret proofed our living room, now they want into the office, so now we're in the process of ferret proofing that 🤪
You could buy them the entire state of Washington, but if you wall it off.. They'll want to go into Canada, idaho, and Oregon

In addition to them overestimating their abilities, Shaye said they only have a good vision for about a few feet in front of them (something between 0,5-1m iirc).
A single cage is not a big deal (height is about 1 foot or 60cm). A double stack like Shaye uses is max (they also removed the bottom/tray section and put them on the ground). The climbers already could get injured when jumping of that height. Like with a triple stack they will definitely break or pop something (some people suggest "put a 3rd row on top" in chat) .

Here’s a few pics I took earlier this month taking one of my girls on a stroll in the park!

I think it's a combination. There are some constants. Walls obviously, the gate to their room is either open or closed depending on a few factors. The gates are closed at bedtime, and if we're gone or if the ferrets from the other room are out. The "girls only" room has a ferret Rayna that loves her sister Willow, but will attack anyone else.
So in the living room, we move things around for enrichment of everyone, but we leave some things that she likes, ex. A particular blanket in the same place.
So she gets confused sometimes when she reaches those random things, but she can typically find her way around by judging the constants. She was also born deaf. Smell is a big part, she goes on the litter pads, albeit 80% of the time. She's the oldest and sweetest of our group. We make sure to give her extra affection because it's probably hard for her to seek us out to receive it when she wants.

USB connection doesn't matter. Discussion was just abut problem with power delivery ^^
You have 2 markings for PD (60W or 240W) in addition you could have high speed and other stuff. But there is nothing else official related with PD (for now).

for power delivery there still is the difference between 3A and 5A cables. not sure if USB-PD as standard in itself requires a 5A cable as minimum or can scale down on a 3A cable. there is definitely the difference between 60W and 240W delivery, and the latter cables cost quite a bit more and are as chonky as mocha 😉

It's not so much that they could or couldn't swim It's more that their fur is hard to fully dry and they need the oils in their skin or they get dry and itchy and they have trouble regulating their own temperatures so all that bundled together is probably why they shouldn't swim

pool/swimming != taking a bath
bath includes light soapy water. Otherwise it's just plain water and this should strip the oils way less.

I'm sure they swim to some degree in nature. The other mustelids frequently do and it's not like they're afraid of it.
