Hey, can someone ask Thor to add the Viewport meta tag to the ferrets website? Here's a link to W3C explaining to add it the CSS https://www.w3schools.com/css/css_rwd_viewport.asp
If I remember correctly this should scale the websites size to the size of the screen or browser. I went to the website while multi tasking and had to scroll and I double checked on my phone and couldn't read the navigation on the side. Thank you!

That'd require a lot more cleaning haha. Would also need to secure it to the wall as it would become very top heavy, which would be complicated if they poop blast the back wall. Also even with our business, a 3 stack CN is very time consuming.

ferrets are expensive indeed. We paid like $1376 for annual rabies and distemper vaccines for the business. Plus 61.89 per bag of Instinct and 30 per bag of Wysong. Don't really wanna calculate the annual cost of that right now, lol. Plus other upkeep that adds up like litter, puppy pads, frequent pet laundry washing, toys, blankets, beds, etc.

@tight jungle at one time Shaye mentioned that they don’t want to stack cages higher because if a ferret jumps out of a top cage, they could get seriously injured or die from the fall. Also much more difficult to clean.

Hey there. I know Thor gets a lot of questions on why ferrets are illegal in California. I've found a webpage that has a timeline on this matter and it started back in 1933 with the Wild bird and animal importation law. However it wasn't until 1974 where it was amended to include all species of the Mustelidae family. There was a time that neutered male ferrets were allowed. However that was restricted and then removed later.

If y'all want the link let me know. I don't want to post links if I'm not allowed. Also this timeline only covers the key items. There are probably more fine details in actual lawsuits mentioned in the timeline that would shed more light.

I'm curious about something. Thor has mentioned on stream that they have difficulty rescuing ferrets in california. Is this just a logistics thing that neither of them can take 2 days off for the drive or is it something about ferret health that they can't really travel well?

Marshalls ferrets are prone to having Waardenburg syndrome. Ferrets with significant white markings (not exactly albino) like pandas and Blazes are prone to having it. It's a type of neural crest disorder. Their heads are a bit squished looking. Waardys are almost certainly deaf in most cases, and also act differently. It's also compared to autism in humans.

A vet friend has asked me to come up with a name for this little guy so I figured I'd ask y'all for suggestions and share a story, albeit a sad one.

He's a bit banged up right now (story below), but he's been an absolute sweetheart during treatment and handling

Backstory spoilered due to sad circumstances:
||He and another ferret were abandoned on a roadside in a fairly busy part of town. They were thrown out of a moving vehicle at ~25mph. Fortunately a nearby pedestrian saw it happen and brought them in to the vet. The other ferret didn't make it and we don't have a reliable description for the vehicle to pursue. This guy made it out with a scraped up nose and both canine(?) teeth broken. He'll be getting proper dental care soon||

We're attempting to get him to a proper rescue right now, but the waiting list is nearly six months. In lieu of that we'll be trying to re-home him after recovery to a home that is accustomed to ferret care.

This community has done a lot to educate my vet friend and I on proper care for ferrets. As well as making us rather picky about potential forever homes for this guy. For that we are thankful

I had considered asking them, but last I heard they were pretty full and the distance is a bit far at the moment. That said, I'm looking to travel to Washington in a couple months. So I should consider asking if we've still got him at that time

I may be wrong but I've had the impression that they just buy more cages if they need to expand capacity. If a ferret needs a home, they'll take it and find a way to make it work. But I've never had a conversation with them about it so I may be wrong.

Last time I heard Thor talk about it: They've got 52 or 53 right now. 2 are temporary holds. They've determined that 50 was the comfortable amount for the current room size which is what they'll be basing the new shelter building's rooms off of. That's all from broken memory though, so I may be mistaken.
