Though one thing that I do lke that Kick does and Twitch doesn't is how it handles hiding a pinned chat message. On Kick, it collapses it to a little thing in the corner of chat so you can later reopen it if desired. On Twitch it's just gone, have to reload to get it to come back as far as I can tell.

Majority Shareholder does not equal absolute authority, but you do have significantly more control on how the company is operated. Minority investors can bring about lawsuits if they think the company is being mismanaged or the Majority Shareholder is not acting in the best interest of the company and behaving irresponsibly.

Very nuanced and subjective, but you're still receiving injections from stakeholders that have a say in decisions, even if they can't leverage it as effectively as a Majority Shareholder.

It seems we're not aligned on how Investor/Stakeholders is being used. I think a studio that is using their own assets/capital to finance their studio/game is what enables them to be "Indie." All kinds of different ways that can be the case including profits from sales from Early Access. Road to Vostok just did exactly that.

A really interesting example, the folks that are making Glasshouse (one of the Indiecember games) are all doing it for free, but they've created a contract that enables everyone involved in the game (past and present) to be paid based on profits from sales and their individual work put into it. It's a something or nothing for everyone strategy.

If you are using someone else's money that you're obligated to payback (bank loan, borrowing from your best friend, grandparents, MLM scheme partner) or you build a structure (see all kinds of different Private Company models) that creates a Fiduciary Duty for you to act in the best interest of the company outside of making payroll and benefits obligations, you can't be Indie.

From the way Josh Strife Hayes explained it, this is the normal procedure for the EU. You propose a problem, gather support, present it, then the government handles the rest. I don't live in the EU nor do I have any education on their procedures. In the US (where Thor lives), you present a solution with the problem.

The interesting part is, during the time of the SKG initiative there were several other initiative's that were around that were far better planned, and had succinct goals in mind that were clearly presented.

SKG however was going on a whim and a prayer in comparison.

His problem with the story wasn't that it was bad, just that it was very predictable and standard for the genre.

It's the complete lack of understanding of what goes into making a game that was advertised as being an "easy win" , when it is anything but.

Even the example presented as a "perfect presentation of the problem at large" (The Crew) they took no account into how much money it would take to pay for a perpetual licence agreement for the brand represented in-game, which would have been Millions of dollars, all for sub-200 players actually playing the game

And that's not even factoring in any proprietary tech they either want to re-use for future games or they themselves licensed to make it.
