GW2 is very casual friendly, no monthly fee and once you hit level 80 there is no vertical progression so you dont have to worry about being behind if new content comes out

Its true, gw2 has some of the least vertical progression I've seen in an MMO. You hit lv 80, max level, fairly quickly; just follow the original game story and you'll hit 80. By that time you'll most likely have all green gear without any real farming. But you'll also start getting mats for ascended gear and legendary gear by playing normally. Ascended gear has the best stats in the game, legendary gear has the same stats as ascended but also lets you change the stats to a different type.

GW2 has a lot of "good grind". You'll have to farm 500 of X but you know exactly where to go to get it and its usually either a guaranteed drop or something like a 30% drop rate but you'll get 5-7 at a time. So you're rarely feeling like you're getting nowhere on a treadmill.

when you hit level 80 you have access to everything, you can swap stuff out whenever you want so your not locked into a certain style. after level 80 its about elite specs and again you can unlock everything

what i mean is, it doesnt really matter. its more about what you want to do what feels best to you. i can link you a site for builds but unless your doing challenge mode content it really doesnt matter much

What I've learned os what feels best usually ends up being incredibly wrong optimally

the thing is they are adding new stuff to change builds all the time and if you arent good at a style of gameplay then you will never get the numbers the build can output and you would be better at a different build that suits your style. but the guides only show a limited number of builds

so its best to have your own style, no one is going to yell at you for being "sub optimal" if your not doing challenge mode stuff

map completion in gw2 is both easy and hard. Its not too difficult finding most spots but it can be hard doing some of the challenges and the sheer number of places can also make completion take a while.

Pick a class, play it. If you don't enjoy it by lv 20, its probably not for you. There's enough variety in the base classes that you should be able to find something you enjoy.

In the majority of GW2, the only thing that really matters is damage. Focus on stacking anything that gives you crit, the rest you can refine as you learn more.

power is usually best while leveling, its raw damage. i use power, percision, ferocity gear not sure why its just what build said. i am swapping things around more as i get other gear to test other stuff

But does dot dmg matter if I'm not using abilities that do dot dmg or weapons/Armour that aren't stats focused for dot dmg?

I don't know what you're trying to ask there. If you're not making a dot build then no your dot damage won't really matter in a fight and you won't be picking skills based on dot damage.

no but the thing is the numbers are so low compared to something like wow. max stat is like 1k so if a piece of gear is 80 points.....thats not much of a difference so its wont matter if it has a wrong stat here or there you can get better gear while you play

dots are conditions in gw2

so in guild wars 2, dots are called conditions. and buffs are called boons

condition damage is literally dot damage

the more condition damage you have, the more damage your dots do.

if you are not playing a dot build dont worry about condition, if your not going support or healer dont worry about concentration/ boons

you will want power, percision, ferocity which is the 3 stats for basic power damage

precision = crit chance
ferocity = crit damage

Basically, your holy trinity of kicking ass in gw2.

that varries from job to job, and even what weapons and some traits can even change those. it takes time reading everything if you dont follow a build

I've never focused on a dot build but I'd say a generic set would focus on Power, Condition Damage, Precision.

the thing is, in guild wars 2 you can have all common gear with mixed matched stats, no traits that work well together and have no clue what your doing but still be just fine in about 90% of all pve content. its more about having fun. if you want a place to start pick a build from the site and aim to get that but you dont NEED IT
