So RPG elements became compelling enough to make their way into genres all across the space. From racing games, shooters, even sports. Leveling up, growing skills, etc.

In the same fashion, I think that Path of Exile's layered endgame philosophy should be the next pervasive gaming element.

They took the Diablo 2 approach of re-grinding respawning zones, and built on it. The map system, with itemization of the maps as items, then on top of that, the Atlas giving a secondary driver for choices of maps to run.

Then in addition to THAT you have the secondary elements that progress within maps. Building your temples, gathering breachstones, progressing syndicate agents...

It's multiple rails of progress that stem from a core of grindable randomized zones. A fantastic way to get tons of hours out of an endgame.

Just imagine Borderlands with that.

Ya kno', by doing both the writing and coding for Heartbound, I think that Thor is biting more than he can chew all by himself, in my opinion, given the massive amount of solo work ahead.

HOWEVER... I'm not in the position to criticize this because I'm also the same person who's making a collectible card game just to make a webcomic about it with a multiverse-sized lore... and because of this the comic hasn't even started production yet.

So, in the end, I couldn't help but notice how similarly we're handling our projects (kind of, maybe I'm stretchin' it a bit), and I kinda understand what he's going through.
Also, I don't feel "alone" in this anymore. lol

Exactly.
I think it's a better idea to work on a project by either splitting it into multiple parts, or write down random ideas coming to your mind.

It's like filming a movie: you don't do that by chronologically following the script, but film different scenes in the middle depending on several factors.

This is identical: work on different parts of a project depending on what your mood heads you towards.
In this way, you get good ideas and you never grow to hate it.

It's not uncommon for streamers to do that during planned events, and especially for gift subs it's just them contributing back to the community
