I think history needs to be re-tooled into the whys more than the whats. I don't care much that Columbus sailed in 1492. I do care about the plot thread from Franz Ferdinand to the Nukes.
Linguistics... I don't know a good way to both teach people about the mechanics and keep them interested in reading... but instilling a love of reading should be the primary goal.
I also think the logic, debate, and critical thinking should be brought back as core subjects. Especially with AI being the new technology on the block and the effect of anger on engagement being exploited.

Depends on how specific the programms you'r using are. Best thing you should do to try linux is to use it on a extra HDD to try out everything you need, then format it back so you can use windows on it should things not work out. Linux has good tools to run windows programs with but again it depends on the specifics.

You'd then eat a stew or some beans-based food, and have some hardtack. Hardtack is a SUPER tough cracker, biscuit thing, that back in those times it was well, basically cement it was so tough. There are even reports of people sewing pockets into uniforms to put layers of hardtack into as a hopeful way to stop injuries in hand to hand fighting.
