This past year has really opened my eye to how Youtube works and how toxic it is. If we didn't have as money issues right now on the top of the radar in the US I personally would start a movement to increase the protections of individuals on the internet to harassment.

If I can't go into someone's store (IRL) and start a harassing them then I shouldn't be allowed to do it in a video.

Yeah same, I used to watch a lot of guys in front of their PCs criticizing the AAA industry and praising indies, but I slowly felt like they aren't actually saying that much, and just recycling the same opinion by phrasing it in 20 different ways
And then they suddenly all dog on Thor with the same points, half of which are easily proven wrong with minimal research.

And if you're wondering about the other half, that's usually just their word against Thor's, stated as a fact (something they then turn around and throw as an accusation out themselves)

I never watched the "toxic" side of Youtube. The react videos or "prank" channels. Looking at them now from the outside shows me how glad I am to have never been part of that culture. But what I am thinking about now is how do you stop that or hinder that type of content. Plenty of people have been hurt due to it. I believe i was reading about a recent incident with a wild life/conservation Youtuber that look their own life because of online harassment.

It feels insane that no one will be punished for that.

It's just, how would you do that without infringing on free speech? Should Youtube/Twitch have more live monitors to make the call on if content has gone too far? I'm not sure what the way of going about it is yet.
