Well we learn it with texts, listenings, movies, and talking. A lot of talking. All of the texts, listenings and such are consistently one of these though. However the same way you meet all of these online at different places and from different people we get "exposed" to it in our English classes. Nonetheless that means all of the vocabulary will have to be learned. And for some odd reason we still learn via translations, e.g. having a mapping table of english and german words that you'll be told to remember page x, y, and z until tomorrow, overmorrow (to use one of the words nobody actually uses but we had to learn), or the day after.

Almost everyone can do this, however people with dyslexia are kinda too good at it. I read a study once where people with dyslexia were outperforming everyone else by a huge magine and it showed a clear correlation between exceptionally great in 3d thinking (like in you don't have to think about it, you just know it is the same object turned differently) and dyslexia.

But now you're an adult? Then let me share this lessons learned "the burdon of communication is on the communicator not the listener", as in it is your responsibility to be understood correctly. Esp. for us autists with ADHD this is quite helpful as it changes a "being forced to hide and mask to get by" to a very powerful tool. At some point it also starts to become fun, well at least once you realize that you literally don't have to mask in 99% of all situations but the 1% count...

(and yes, this will also improve your ability to detect and correctly respond to "games people play", which coincidentally is also the title of a good book to help undertanding the NTs)

Until I realized that it closes some doors unnecessarily (by being missunderstood) because you literally only have to be cautious for about 1% of situations and - well - being able to mask is a superpower then. Have you read the book "games people play" by change already? If yes, then you know what the cues are.

I have not, personally. I just got interested in how peoples brains worked as a kid (bc I didnt understand it from my viewpoint at the time) and that later transformed into me realizing I didnt need to understand to mask better, but it was nice to understand others better

In my first project i used variables like x, y. If i ran out of single letters i start using two letters, then 3 letters. In loops there is i,ii,iii, and so on. And also no comments. I don't even wanna try to understand any of this xD
