Ferretstream runs on 5G and will keep running. There might be a slight downtime when the actual switchover from 5G to fiber happens but it shouldn't be too long. Shaye said the slicer would be there around 8 or 9.

Not sure why there would be any down time on that stream, use 5G until the fiber are fully up and running, then hook that up to the Ferretstreeam PC, and just switch the connection, unless both the 5G router and the new fiber both are using WiFi

When I was in high school, my biology class went to visit one of the science universities here in Oregon. (I can't for the life of me remember which, but it's the one that has the Human Nervous System, sans body, on display). Anyway, one of the first rooms in this place we visited was the Cadaver Room. Two big metal tables with an alcohol solution in them so the bodies can be lowered into the table and preserved for continued study. Seeing bodies that are devoid of skin everywhere but the genitals is unsettling enough, but it's the SMELL that sticks with you. Literally. The combination of the solution and the bodies, no kidding, combines into the exact smell of that cheap bacon Burger King uses in their burgers. Yep, it's literally typing shorthand.

The system evolves to be unique to each user, they apply a theory to come up with the chord they should use, it means they always know how to type a novel word, if the dictionary doesn't know the chord yet, it'll spit out the chord instead for later transcription and the user will add it to their dictionary. So the precise set of chord mappings is distinct to each user, even if there is overlap.

With open hardware like above and open software like Plover, it's now accessible financially to anyone. The commercial machines cost thousands and the courses to learn cost even more. The drop-out rate from those courses is like 70% or something.

But yeah, it's literally the same concept as pen and paper shorthand. Just digitised now so it can automatically output the full transcription with little post processing.

Whereas it used to be something you'd have to take away and write long form later.
