Intel CPU is degrading. Intel denies issue. Intel to release microcode update to prevent this. Current degraded CPUs can't be reverted, degradation is permanent. Intel has not admitted their fault, nor have they made a recall.

Their last 2 generations of desktop cpus are currently experiencing crashes due to bad microcode settings. Patch will be rolled out mid August, this will only prevent cpus that has not degraded too much, and Intel has no intention of announcing a recall nor extending warranty for affected cpus that's out of warranty range

I followed this since the beginning, and intel was, at one point, blame their motherboard partners for putting out of spec settings stock

this is partly true, since there are board vendors who did do that

but intel has a part of responsibility for not policing and enforcing their own specification harder on board partners

this is from memory, but i'm pretty sure intel claimed they only test board samples that the partners sent directly to intel, and does not coverty test boards independently after release

also, I feel like I have a duty to clarify this for those who just catch up to speed on the intel crash, AMD was in Intel's exact scenario just last year, when reports of 7800x3d cpus literally exploding, killing it and the motherboard.
It also took user complains from reddit, reported by medias and tech youtubers, that AMD issued an official statement about looking at this problem. But it only took AMD a week or two to come up with a report on the root cause and solution. Unlike intel where the current issue ***might ***have happened for at least 2 years (2022 was 13th gen release) and they seems to keep hiding it

The fact that your having a misunderstanding in the first place is the reason why you should be making a mod ticket. Twitch doesnt have a say in how long you get timed out for. If you were banned, there was no time where you were supposed to be unbanned without an appeal. You appeal a ban by submitting a mod ticket.

The point of Magicalstarr's message was that questions you have regarding this issue are to be asked within a mod ticket, not in a public chat channel.

Yes, once yt has done the processing the bitrate is a lil more stable - but if you directly compare the twitch VoD with the yt VoD of today, i find the facecam to be a lot more pixelated in the yt stream

It's basically a passkey storage device, yes -- public key authentication system. Websites and apps that implement WebAuthn can use it. It is not a replacement for 2FA codes in the sense that it's an entirely different algorithm, but it has a similar usecase.

Ive been watching for a while now, and Thor loves to call people dumb and infer the most non sequitor points they never made when they disagree with him so he has an easy strawman to knock down. He does this with both objective topics and with opinions. He is also inconsisitent on what is considered political. He has talked on and on about taxes and health care, but has shut down talks about human rights. He's often correct in his take which makes it even harder to watch. No one will listen or change their mind if hes talking down to them. I wish he would just talk games and tech and leave things like law, finance, health, etc. to real experts. He can say Chat MD all he wants but he is just as guilty and has so many people who will run to his defense, agree with him blindly, and spread his takes everywhere. They also bandwagon the talking down he does. I love this community and would love to see its leader and main voice show more kindness, patience, and understanding.

A better angle to approach the issue, if government absolutely HAS to be involved, would be to specifically prohibit singleplayer-only games from requiring online connections in order to be functional.
Not "end of service" plans, but blocking the specific problem from occurring to begin with

And in doing so, not causing the kind of collateral damage this petition currently risks

I see both as people, that are willing to talk about the pros and cons.

My opinion is, that this NEEDS to be handled. That far, Scott is right, but Thor makes some arguments, that are valid.
SOME OF WHICH i could already answer and debunk, because Scott clarified some things in his videos, but this makes things clear, that the text on the Website is not clear enough.

Scott said multiple times, that:

a) He doesn't want the rights to the IP.
b) This would only apply for the time of EoL, so the question of "What if it doesn't run on modern systems, some time down the road?" is completely pointless.
This just takes a snapshot at the games shutdown and also does not apply to games retroactively, that are already dead.
c) AS LONG AS the game is NOT EoL, the DEV/Publisher is allowed to do anything they want with it. This includes the shut-down of 3rd party servers, if they so desire.
d) He fully aknowledged, that the law is not conclusive here...which is one of the main points of his movement. He wants clarity.
e) This clarity then would also give guidelines to devs on what to do, to make this transition as easy, as possible.
This is also to prevent devs from SPECIFICALLY putting in services, that prevent this from ahppening.
People are asking: "Yeah, but what if...what if that...this isn't clear" and that is one of the points he made in one of his video.
He also stated, that IF the law decides against games, then...well shit, we lost, but at least we know then.

Making online games accessible after EoL is not impossible. It happened. Look at Guild Wars 1.

He pointed one case out, where EA shut down 3rd party servers for Battlefield 1942, aka the ONLY way of playing that game online, as it was intended.
In this case, the gamers came up with their own solution, which CAN be a viable solution for his argument to be satisfied.
He just wants to have a legal basis, where the community can do this, without the DEV/Publisher shutting them down.

This still leaves a lot of questions, but he is also not a legal expert. A petition should also not be 100% legally watertight to have some merrit. The details are things for the lawmakers to figure out, which is, what he ultimatively wants.
