Only few were affected and needed the fix, rest already had a new software on them so they never died.

Honestly worst part was waking up to a massive WTF and trying to understand what's happening.

But the OS should be able to protect against this and gracefully ignore the faulty file after a timeout, then reboot to the previous state, without requiring someone to run commands.

Almost a year ago, due to hackers, a big hospital in germany had to take their whole IT offline for almost half a year. A lot of them, especially accounting can't work anymore because the software is entirely outsourced in cloud structure (SAP, etc.). They can't charge their patients for months causing a big loss of money and the management don't care at all.

I think a lot of them won't change much due to the crowdstrike issue. At least in Germany.

If you have a private insurance, they can charge up to factor 10 (depending on the insurance). If you don't charge them in time and they left the country, have fun getting any of it. Privacy policy makes it even harder since 2016/2017.
I have some contact there and they lost about half a million due to this. and this amount is the private ones only 😉

The issue with game companies, or any company for that matter, is that they do whatever they want and there are still people who buy from them. Take Ubisoft, prime example. I hate the way Ubisoft has treated its playerbase in the past, so I dont buy Ubisoft games. If enough people don't play their games, Ubisoft either changes its ways or dies out and another company takes its place.

Doesn't matter if its a big company, a local business, a neighbor, a personal relationship, none of them can do anything to you that you dont allow them to. You will always have the option of cutting ties and not dealing with them.
