If the account doesn't lock down who can create carts of their behalf this can happen. My company literally does this as part of SOP

I think for seasonal events it really depends on what you play. In gacha games for example, where events are the majority of content, missing one can be really frustrating. Especially if there is limited story content. Also Fomo has a whole new meaning when you talk with completionists

true, but normally Thor starts his streams around 10:xx something in the morning for me, and as I'm unemployed I can watch him every single day he are live, or just have the stream open, and if needed reload the stream tab to get that to work, but if i'm away from the PC I can just check the stream on twitch app on my mobile. And still keep the streak. The thing who made me lost my streak was, that I didn't share the streak while he was live when you hit the "next" level of it. But as further up on the levels you go, it's only every 5th level you can share it in the chat compare to how much it's in the lower parts of the streak levels

It's the inherent friction of creative industry entertainment with the mathematics of actually buying games.

I don't blame people for thinking that way, personally, but it doesn't work as an actual tool for making purchases

since, well, an 200 hour game that is extremely well made but just doesn't grab you will just be a waste of time for you

I think it really only matters at the extreme ends.

Like an extremely short but fulfilling game might not be what you want to buy if you're counting pennies, even if the short game you'd absolutely love

And the EXTREMELY long games, if you're into that kind of thing, might be a plus.

Things like stardew valley and all that.

but shit, some people spend all day playing old SNES games because they do speedruns. It really all depends.
