one of the most important things that not just Thor but a lot of devs are saying, is respect your community. As your community is the part that will make or break your game. Just look at this community for example, everything thor does is out of intereste forhis community, Not his own pocket.

So for then to have a community mod of their game, blatantly and repeatedly shit on it's members. berating them.
The way he said things , on a simple "why are you guys doing this" Is just out of line. So far that it just makes other devs feel shame for how the players of their game are treated.

The way I see it they have basically committed fraud. They falsely presented the game to be more functional than it was by removing an unnecessary feature in order to retain the booming population. Had they left it alone a possibly large portion of the playerbase would have bounced off the game because of the issues the system created.

But I'm not a lawyer, that's just the layman's understanding of fraud.

Well obviously the community manager behavior is unacceptable, and should be addressed, but that cant paint the entire company.
And all I'm saying is they might have had 0 control over this, we have no idea what is going behind the scenes, we only know that the one pulling the strings is Sony, and cant say exactly what did Arrowhead do or didn't do.
We know the owner of arrowhead implied its all to blame on Sony, and to spam them with complaints. He basically said without saying this wasnt in their control.

I'm not saying they have no blame, they are also in the wrong, but to me while I get it, the level of blame against arrowhead to me feels too extreme.
The communication about this becoming mandatory again was awful.
The fact that they sold on countries that would be unable to get PSN account is awful.

But I'm also more on giving the benefit of the doubt, that this is mostly Sony abusing their power, as companies do. So personally I wont blacklist arrowhead from games I would ever play, nor will nuke the game from my library.

I have seen companies do worse anti-community things, but haven't blacklisted them for me in that way. For example I still bought some Nintendo games despite their insanely toxic anti-community behavior against the melee community which I have followed since 2013.

But if you are blacklisting Arrowhead in this way, shouldnt it also extend to Sony and PSN and all that too?

Last time I had to do with an PSN account was back in like PS3 times, and back then it was no age verification for me, don't even wanna test to see it now but if I had to verify my age I would just do that, as it's also against ToS to give false info when signing up to things like that. If they get info about it they will just terminate your account, and as your listed info don't match up with your real info, you will not get it back

I got gifted the game on the 7th of April, but didn't have time to play it before all of this, started it up on the 3rd this month, played it for like 20 or 30 min. Then Thor took this up on stream I uninstalled it, now today I looked in the store, and I'm not allowed to buy the game anymore, but I can get it gifted (tried to gift my son it) from my non Åland account

Only thing I'm even more annoyed with are that according to many pages when they see me as a Fin, I'm not allowed to pick Swedish as my language, only Finnish or English. Even if Finland are a two language Country, Finnish 67% and Swedish 33% as our native language. Then we all are taught English and multiple other language in school

That's actually a disconnect with Steam's systems, combined with a huge helping of bait 'n switch from Sony. Once it was clear Sony changed their policy, it was STEAM who locked down where the game can be sold from their store.

Well now when this game needs an PSN account to be linked to Steam, if you can't get an PSN you can't play it anymore, and then there is no reason for Stream to sell it in them regions anymore. Before this the entire world could buy and play the game

I think this is Valve simply trying to find out how far it went before they decide to intervene or not.

Not often that Valve intervenes on such a thing, iirc.

In fact, to prove that it wasn't Valve who added this, one of the restricted countries added is "XD", which is not a valid country code recognized by Steam.
Any of the 2-letter ISO country codes that start with "X" are considered to be "user-assigned", i.e. used by a specific organization to represent a territory for any reason that is not officially assigned a country code. There is a chance that this "XD" nomenclature means something inside Sony and they copy-pasted that list from some internal PlayStation one.
Or, well, they might just be trolling by putting in that combination of letters in there.
One way or another, Valve would bloody well know their own country codes lol

How to ruin your game in 48 hours. I can't believe the CEO of Arrowhead knew 6 months ago about the PSN linking requirement and still sold it to countries that can't get a PSN. He didn't try to warn the players at all.
