Yes but SONY don't earn anything on the users only using Steam and not PSN

to just have a PSN account are free, if you live in a country where you are allowed to have an PSN account. But when you already have an PSN account you might also wanna get the PSN online or what it's called so you can play online on a PS5 and get other deals. So thats what SONY are after now

so my experiece with Steam ID's is pertaining to Ark Dedicated Server hosting, I used Steam CMD to manage a large portion of the admin side of things, if i ever wanted to ban anyone, or make them admin, or anything, I could grab their SteamID off their profile page, and do what i wanted.

to view a Steam ID of a user click "view profile" and look at the URL

it should look like steamcommunity.com/profiles/{THIS_IS_WHERE_YOUR_STEAM_ID_IS}
