I wasn't hit by that just yet, but it's cool. I don't really support stealing content, but Thor seems to be okay with those fan made channels as long as they don't monetize the content. For me personally, I see this as getting more exposure, and I'm okay with fans creating fan accounts that are clearly distinguishable as fan accounts (in other words no impersonators). I'm not a big creator, more of a just starting one, so I don't just yet have to deal with tons of duplicate accounts trying to steal my content (also partially because there is little to none). However in the future, I'm definitely welcoming fans doing fanarts, and creating fun animations and giving more exposure, as long as they actually link back to the official channel, and they clearly distinguish being fan accounts. They can also monetize their content, provided it's original enough to be recognized as "I put a lot of effort into these videos" kind of stuff. I will probably however DMCA straight copies of my content and report impersonation accounts I find to YouTube (impersonation being maliciously stealing my name and profile picture and obviously misleading viewers). That also means banning spam bots.

For what it's worth YouTube makes this pretty easy. It literally notifies you when someone reuploads your video and gives you a claim button

Other platforms, though... Well, TikTok literally just ignores any reports of impersonation, for example

Yeah, they always send out the notifications when there is playtime. If set properly, you should get those alerts on your mobile and desktop clients.

see the easiest way to have a notification ping for playtime other than using the discord notifications as far as I can figure out would be to have a bot constantly watching the ferret stream that pings a notification on colour change. Since playtime is on a coloured cam and its night vision (so greyscale) the rest of the time. Not sure how that works within twitch's ToS mind you, nor exactly how you'd go about it. I just know the technology to do it exists

Getting the amount of people watching is easy so if I find there is a massive spike I could use that.

But ferrets are my first stretch goal, so far I have to actually get the app running, hopefully this weekend.
