#Weird mouse and inventory bug.

huh. this sounds like a broken keyboard. have you spilled water on it at some point? if you unplug your keyboard, does it stop?
its not the keyboard
did you unplug it?
dont need to
...how do you know it's not the keyboard then?
Because ive already tried it before making this post
are you using a gamepad? or do you have one plugged in?
i dont own a gamepad
well if you've tried those things I'm kinda stumped. maybe someone else can chime in. I was 100% sure it was a keyboard sending spurious keypresses.
if it is a keyboard/game pad issue, shouldn't it affect more then just my inventory and in game mouse cursor?
there are lots of invisible keys that can be pressed that don't really do anything. so when a keypress is detected that isn't a graphical glyph or one that moves the cursor games can detect it as "hey, im using the keyboard now. please switch input methods" and it sounds like that's what's going on for you.
how much stuff do you have in the inventory? do you not smelt down anything or sell stuff here and there? If the inventory is really packed it'll cause issues with overflow which sounds like what might be happening
a few potions, doorspikes and a scroll
its my first time playing the game and the issue started happening on the second floor of the scrobold cave
The flickering mouse cursor seems to be happening in the main menu too.
flickering mouse cursor
interesting
almost as if maybe the mouse wheel is being rolled up constantly?
would that make it disappear also?
The mouse cursor icon is invisible when still and flickers when moving it around
oh ok
well
that kinda sounds like you have a keyboard key stuck
because if the game detects a keyboard input or a gamepad input, it hides the mouse. But when you move the mouse, the mouse comes back
have you tried rebooting?
the issues still happen while the keyboard is disconnected
that's awesome 😄 wow
sometimes you have to reboot with the keyboard disconnected. stuck keys are... something.
all evidence points to broken keyboard though.
ive tried playing a couple of other games and im having no issues in them, only this game
@frail briar I'm sorry this is happening to you, I'm scratching my head tryna think of why.
Yeah if you're not seeing something similar in other games
so
lemme think for a bit here
in dmans
if it gets input like "oem_orange" or some weird broken key that wouldn't affect any other game
it throws it out but it still might trip the hiding the mouse thing
but would it affect the inventory?
yeah, it's a keypress. it changes input methods.
are you using one of these? perhaps an old one?
this could be a driver problem
oem_keyboard_nipple_left lol
my keyboard dosent have on of those
any volume slider? wheel? rolly things?
like this
more flickery while moving it
yeah that video is "your up arrow is stuck" on your keyboard or your gamepad or something
But your keyboard is ok and you don't have a gamepad sooooo something is up and I'm trying to figure out how to see what the game is doing on your machine
numpad 8 would do it too
ive been using the numpads for movement, targeting and the inventory
try pressing numpad 8 again
does numpad locking break the game? i.e. hold numpad direction to move -> turn off numpad -> let go of key?
(I use this trick to give my hands a rest in games, to hold buttons down)
yeah that would make the game think it never gets an up press
a reboot fixes that if you can't undo it.
Reboot?
whole computer off and then back on
before i reboot the computer, i will see if i have any issues with other games that i use numpad in
not many games switch between mouse input / keyboard input like this
I actually have a had time thinking of any that do
you need a game that hides the mouse when you touch the keyboard to compare
if its an issue with numpad, wouldn't it also force my character to move?
there are lots of numpad keys, even ones not on the keyboard. so it's too hard to say.
My keyboard
I have to afk for just a bit
ok
Called it!
