For while running moves I do F then FF2+4. So like press forward then dash + buttons and hold forward at the end of the dash. Or you can do dash then F2+4. Let me know if that makes sense at all

If your offense is getting stuffed a lot, try to set it up with pokes

For example, the jab. +1 on block, +8 on hit. If you connect a jab, it gives you plenty of advantage to swing away with your slower moves.

So the fastest move in the game is generally 10 frames, you want to throw something out that will beat that. So if you’re +3 you want i12 or better for a frame trap.

If they’re disrespecting your frames you could also just do nothing and see how they react. Chances are decent they’re doing something unsafe and you can punish lol

Once you find a character you want to play, get a check list to learn.

1. Moves that are + or close to 0 on block. This includes entire strings, and just parts of them and also single buttons.
2. Learn which of your own buttons are death on block, or are only useful for combo extensions. Avoid using those outside of combos.
3. Movement: Double back dash and proper side stepping, as well as how to crouch block/duck on command without fucking up.
4. Keep your throws in mind, as well as knowing where your power crush, and heat moves are.
5. In match, practice first and foremost defending yourself and taking your turn. Poke back with your safe stuff, pressure with your plus stuff.

Personally, when I'm learning a character I rank moves and combos by good enough. This is something just to get started with and you're not required to learn every move a character has to start.

Go online try it, drop combos, go into practice and refine what I did right and fix what I did wrong. I focus on high damage and semi-optimals much later.

If you run back the replay you can see what exact advantage you have and use that to throw out a faster move that’s a frame trap. Or you can see what they’re doing, see if it’s unsafe.
