Doing shimmies basically involves holding back for a period of time so the game would count the attacker as the defender in that scenario

Make it a timer or smt

Player gets hit with a consecutive amount of attacks, let me use the drive gauge to determine if he was blocking, how many attacks and now I can ensure who was the defender or the attacker.

Hell, you can even use player positioning to know who was attacking?

Player blocks, moves back, defender. Player attacks, he's constantly moving forwards, he's the attacker.
