Normally 5HK in neutral is a bad idea, but if he’s in silver 5 I don’t think you’ll be fighting anyone who knows you can duck it let alone finding a optimal combo for the punish

recently learned that after ending a combo with H tatsu you can geat a meaty enough 6MP from DR that it links into 5HP.

Best advice I can give when using modern is to stop relying on the auto combos.

Something that took me a bit to understand is that certain moves are locked into the auto combo button. For example, Chun-Li's crouching medium punch (c.mp) is tied to her auto medium combo, so you have to incorporate these "locked" moves into normal combos. This means learning sequences like pressing medium punch, then auto medium combo, into drive gauge, back to medium, then auto medium, and so on.

The second punch after the drive impact can only be done while pressing the auto combo button.
Additionally, you can use certain parts of the auto combos strategically within combos. This automation can be useful; you can perform the combo up to the Serenity Stance and then choose between a light, medium or heavy follow-up, giving you control over the continuation. Chun-Li's Level 2, for instance, can work from mid-screen or neutral distance maybe?

He’s really mid to bottom tier by modern standards. When it comes to Modern Mode, you have to consider a lot of factors since some characters lose damage while others lose entire moves from their move lists, like Manon (although that was adjusted in the latest patch). Shoto characters like Akuma, Ryu, and Ken are overall very strong in Modern. Aki is solid in Modern, and Ed is really good from what I’ve heard. Cammy is extremely strong as well. Lily is probably still the best character for Modern, and post-patch, Zangief might even rank up there with her.

HOW DID I FORGET
With Modern controls it's much easier to do some hold specials. Most of the time, you don't have to do the full input, like back, forward, light. Since for most characters that's tied to the special button on Modern, all you need to do is hold, THEN just hit the special button, not hold back, forward, and special—like this:
Notice how I never press forward? It's stupid and the game does tell you that you can do it like this, but it's easily overlooked.

The risk reward is not in Akumas favor, taking into account his health and heavy kick scaling
It’s literally 60/40, either you do 40 if it hits, or you take 60 if it whiffs
