I think modern controls were done pretty well in this game. It’s a great way for people to get their feet in the door and outside of the top levels of play I don’t think it really holds you back that much.

Unless I’m mistaken you’re basically trading your full arsenal of buttons for access to 100% consistent combo damage and stuff like ez anti-airs. The trade off there is probably close to a wash until you start creeping into higher levels of play. Then I can see there being diminishing returns.
