I've picked him up recently so I can tell you some stuff I think

-Young form is more of a zoner type character
-his fireballs are very strong, you're going to usually just use 1-2 though bc he gets more recovery and becomes more unsafe for every one used
-s3 is your only normal that guarantees fireball on block

-old form wants to be closer, his fireballs are very unsafe on block, they are more of a combo tool
-old f3 is a VERY advancing, safe low with a safe followup
-old f4 is a very strong stagger tool, very easily hit-confirmable and most of the followups are safe

I've been using cyrax

One shang player ik uses striker

Shang does not seem very cameo reliant but cyrax makes young df2 a + on block launcher and gives insane chip dmg

I looked into Cyrax and he seems great for Shang. I had a thought about using Cyrax to make Shang's spikes safe as a way to set up Runaway for young form

Shang just has so many tools you can kind of take whatever you want for the MU. It’s really cool to be that free

I do find myself taking a lot of scorpion though for kasuals bc I soul steal a lot more and Scorp generally gives really simple combo routes

Thinking about switching him out for Goro though since he does a similar thing but trades some damage for better defense

Yup, if you do a microdash s4 into close fireball it lets you do another s4>fireball

Almost optimal for meterless but not quite, but here I think it is

I'm like 90% sure you can fit another close fireball or f4 before db3 at the end if you wanna try to rly optimize this but tbh I pulled this off once and didnt try again lol

I'm pretty confident if you do this perfect you can get 43-45% for 1 bar 0 assist which is insane

Is there a trick to doing special cancels when you change stances, im trying to practice this combo where u start with young Shang and do 2,4 (change stance) DF1 into the combo but when I change stances im having trouble getting the special to come out

helps me get combo confirms easily at lower ranks, will probably change once i get into a higher rank

then use sareenas single projectile to try to steal your turn

im at a rank where people learned that shang is countered by blocking low

he literally has 1 overhead

and its REALLY slow
