Title. I went into ranked mode as a senior master nearing grandmaster in classic this season, and despite winning 9/10 of my placement games, I still placed bottom of bronze. I have since have hard climbed my way to diamond.
It wasn't too difficult, and my 70+% win rate reflects it, but it's been a supremely frustrating and time consuming experience to deal with trying to communicate with players that don't even understand the basics of communication or saving to send on enemy weak waves.
Even with the teammates holding me back, or some failings of my own, however, I've managed to coach us into victory positions. When they feel like cooperating.
The problem isn't the difficulty in carrying or coaching, but how much I have to do it to get to the expected reasonable elo.
Players shouldn't have to get a 10x winstreak with randos to get a boost for just climbing rate.
Players should be getting placed into higher divisions on placements.
High winrate profiles after 20 games should generate substantially to massively more mmr until they get hammered down into the roughly 50/50 winrates that matchmaking would normally expect.
I know it's a small dev team with relatively small player base, but this is an excruciating pain point for the steady or well seeded playerbase.
