Title. Since the change to Sakura from damage to attack speed growth, I feel like it usually is a bad choice, even if it survives from wave 1 to 9. For sure I may need to adapt the playstyle, but compared to before, I dont feel rewarded enough for keeping it alive.

Its really never been that great of an opener. Are you trying to keep it alive on 7 vs power mercs?
If yes, then likely you are not pushing enough. Accepting the lost of stack on 7 and maybe 8 for 4 workers is much better

Sakura is quite strong. It's the #1 opening in the game in Plat+ and A tier in Grandmaster+
You are rewarded for keeping it alive, but if you significantly overbuild to keep it alive, the reward isn't worth it. Best to slightly overbuild on average and occasionally underbuild and incur risk.
