TM2020 Crashing on startup (Resolved) | Trackmania | Page 1

Hello, I have a problem with my trackmania, whenever I try to open the game it instantly crashes with no error message, I tried verifying the game files, reinstalling Ubisoft Connect (through the website, through the automatic steam installation, and through the ubisoft installer that's in the game's folder) and all my ubisoft games several times. Included a video of the bug happening, my specs and my startup programs just in case. NVIDIA Overlay is disabled, discord overlay is disabled too. I noticed that if I try to open the game instantly after my pc boots the game starts fine so I tried disabling several startup programs to see if it was related to one of them but it doesnt seem to be the case, does anyone have an idea of what could be happening? Thank you very much !

PS: I also tried running the game in compatibility mode and in administrator mode. If you need more info just ask me and I will provide.

PS2: I have ProtonVPN opened but it is set in include split tunneling mode, so only my browser and qbittorrent are routed through it. (I show all my opened applications during the video)

PS3: Also tried the AudioDevice_Oal" : "|Device|Default", method in C:\Users\viyu\Documents\Trackmania\Config\Default.json

EDIT: Apparently the problem is launching the game while ProtonVPN is opened, even though the game isn't tunneled through it.

Any idea why ProtonVPN and TM2020 are incompatible though?

Not to my knowledge. Does the game start without ProtonVPN?

Also, can you check in Documents\Trackmania2020\LogCrash folder and send the latest available LogCrash_XXXXX.txt file here?

there is no crash log created

and yes when protonvpn is closed the game starts

but when protonvpn is opened it doesnt matter whether its connected or not

does protonvpn allow you to use their service through openvpn or wireguard? if so, you could ditch the protonvpn app and just use the openvpn or wireguard application

i can just close proton, launch tm and reopen it
