Since the Steam version of Trackmania Nations Forever often comes with various issues like the whitescreen problem (see ?whitescreen for reference) it is highly recommended to download the standalone version of the game. Standalone means the game doesn't need Steam or other launchers to start.

use the standalone version, the steam version has some other bugs either way
