#Trackmania fails to load my created maps and boots with wrong settings.

Since the update, Trackmania has behaved strangely.

  1. Upon entering the Edit Map function, the folder that is loaded is not the same that the game loaded before the update. The maps that are in the folder are my creations, but they are outdated, and some maps are completely missing. The folders containing these maps are still present on my computer.
  2. The in-game settings are wrong. Both keybindings and video settings are incorrect. I have changed the settings to my liking, and the game now loads with these settings. However, both Show/Hide Ghost and Show/Hide Opponents (bound to L2 and R2 on PS5 controller, respectively), fail to register the input properly, leading to me having to press multiple times.

I'm not sure what causes this, but it's almost as if the game loads a previous version of the local files; settings and all. What have I done to try to fix this?

  1. Validated files from the Ubisoft Connect launcher.
  2. Restarted game and PC multiple times.
  3. Copied local files from the "correct" folder.

Any help would be massively appreciated.

OneDrive can cause several problems with Trackmania installations:

  • If you're using OneDrive to back up your Documents folder, things can break when OneDrive runs out of space - it will typically just stop syncing but it can also throw errors and cause file conflicts.
  • OneDrive occasionally has issues with special characters in file names - this can especially cause problems with map files, causing them to randomly disappear as OneDrive syncs.
  • OneDrive has an option to serve the backed-up files on demand from the cloud and to delete everything locally (to save disk space). This can typically also cause a variety of issues from corrupted file contents to missing data.

In general, it's recommended to not use OneDrive's back-up feature at all - or to at least exclude the Trackmania/Trackmania2020 folder from it.
You can configure those options in the OneDrive settings (under the Settings and the Backup tabs).
