I've got the game running on Linux via Steam Proton, and it runs great, got over 900h in it already. There's just one problem, Ubisoft Launcher takes over 5 minutes to start the game. Anyone know if there's something I can do about it?

that takes even longer than 5 minutes

well

#

on my steam deck it doesnt take that long to launch

#

so it must be something on your end

wary pulsar
#

that's good to know, it means it's fixable

spark elm
#

then again i havent tested in a few weeks

#

i barely play trackmania on the go

wary pulsar
#

oh this isn't new, i've had that since i started playing almost a year ago

spark elm
#

then it's something on your end for sure

wary pulsar
#

most of the time i push "play" and go make a cup of tea, and the game pops up more or less when the tea is ready

spark elm
#

yea that doesn't sound normal whatsoever

#

how'd you install the game?

#

via lutris?

wary pulsar
#

it's just the steam ver

hmm

#

yea on steam deck that thing just starts

#

shrug

#

try switching to proton experimental

#

maybe that helps

#

(that's usually my go-to fix for anything on steam on linux)

hm interesting. so it's ubisoft connect itself that takes forever to start, if i close just tm, then the tray icon starts tm back up again near instantly

#

but i close ubisoft connect when i'm done playing because otherwise steam counts tm as open and playtime keeps going up

also having this issue

#

ill give it 15 minutes

mine was fine until an hour or so ago where it just stopped working entirely

#

i have the issue with Linux Mint 22

#

any Proton version doesnt matter, all the same

#

using Wine's devel build from the WineHQ ppa also exerts the issue

#

upc.exe starts immediately but it takes ages to do anything

#

i'd make a post on r/linux_gaming because tm on linux (arch at least) is also gigaYEK for me

#

i use arch btw

#

i mean I've had no issues with tm which would be specific to Linux

#

except needing to install dxvk via wine tricks

#

but with dxvk both tm2 and tm2020 work flawlessly
