So I have been trying to play with a friend of mine, but neither of us can accept each other's party invites. Not in any mode. Not in club rooms, not in the campaign rotation room, not in royale, not in ranked, nowhere. It always looks like this:

Both people have it turned on. We tried toggling it and it instead had a notification that it would switch our settings once we joined, but accept was still disabled

I believe we both tried from ubisoft connect. Sometimes opening it directly, and sometimes clicking the ubisoft connect button from the royale page. Both via steam... although we are friends on ubisoft connect due to a different game.

It's also worth noting, this is the second time me and my friend have tried to play together and only saw disabled accept buttons. The previous time was weeks ago, so I assumed it was something wrong with one of our clients or settings

There used to be an issue with this. (Where people couldn’t see each other in matchmaking before queuing)

well he was first able to join my party but didnt show up on my end

Apparently having OpenPlanet installed, the “AFK Queue” plugin installed, and “receive squadding notifications” enabled in the AFK Queue plugin was the cause.
As far as I know, if you’re going to use AFK Queue for matchmaking, then everyone in your squad should use it.
Otherwise everyone should use the normal system in the game.
But AFK Queue can be nice for people above a certain rank since bots are apparently no longer used for those ranks, and thus it may take longer to wait for a match, especially in NA evening hours, which is when rockskater is probably usually queueing. Being able to build a map or play other maps while you wait for a match can be quite nice.

but if neither of those two even know what openplanet is, then that can't be the cause either
and you both have the game via ubisoft connect directly or are you launching it via steam @tawny wraith ?

I'm 99.999% sure I have no 3rd party trackmania plugins unless they came from the game itself or a track I ran. Same with my friend.

There used to be some suspected link between having too many friends in your Ubisoft friends list and this issue. But it was never fully proved that it was the cause.

maybe you cant accept when you already have your own "party" going, meaning when you're inside the royal or ranked screen
try going to the main menu and then accepting

nah 😛 but I had the issue with like 250 friends, and my alt accounts didn’t have it with like 15 friends. Anecdotal tho.
