#Nadeo, what is this?

Weeks ago I reported players WW2Champion and EU_IS_WASHED for constant insulting people in chat and spamming the ENTIRE chat window with ASCII "art" slurs (it was literally N-word ascii art, made of n-words). Belittling, flaming, trolling. I provided multiple screenshots, from several different days.
That was weeks ago. Right now, in this moment, during CoTM, they're there again, insulting people and starting fights.
The positivity of the Trackmania community is very important to many of us. You have to provide moderation to your game.

If you want to report a player for their in-game behaviour or for cheating, you can head on over to the official Ubisoft Support website (https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/help/contact) and use the following category to report a player:
Platform: PC - Game: Trackmania - Category: Player Reports, Bans, and Sanctions - Sub-Category: Report a player - Issue: Select as applicable
Attach any screenshots via the "Attach documents" options. The case will be referred to the people in charge at Nadeo, keep in mind however that you will not receive details as to which actions were taken, if any.

Please use this official channel only and DO NOT DM Nadeo employees on Discord or other Social Media to report someone.

there we go

inland vale
#

I reported both more than 2 weeks ago with more proof, and they were doing worse things.

#

This is unacceptable

#

a complete lack of moderation - players repeatedly insulting with slurs and they're still not banned

leaden wind
#

it sucks that people do this but I'm pretty sure it's not Nadeo's job to ban people; it's Ubisoft's cuz that's where the accounts are from

inland vale
#

Whoevers, then Nadeo should do more to incite Ubisoft banning those people.

leaden wind
#

so if you wanna make some noise I'd recommend doing it in generic Ubisoft places, not specifically in Nadeo's

inland vale
#

it's their game and their responsibility to reach out to Ubisoft to ban people who spam entire chats with slurs

#

if they can't do it themselves

#

sorry, I'm a bit angered by the situation. I'm not directing it towards you

#

this really shouldn't be happening, a positive community is what makes TM so good - for me

leaden wind
#

I understand, no worries, but what exactly could nadeo do in this situation?

#

"ban these players or we'll quit ubisoft"?

inland vale
#

It shouldn't be the playerbase's responsibility to go above and beyond to reach Ubisoft's moderators, who maybe aren't even familiar with the TM community

leaden wind
#

no need to be familiar with the TM community to know slurs are bad YEP

inland vale
#

I agree, I wasn't just referencing the slurs.

#

the toxicity in general

#

in some game communities, toxicity is a lot more widespread and people are desentisized

#

I want the TM positivity to be preserved

inland vale
inland vale
#

not saying that's the best way to do things

#

but Nadeo has and should have more moderation power than us players

#

it's not unreasonable to claim those two players have crossed every line and should have their chatting privilege removed, at least

# gentle pier there we go

No, not there we go. There I already went (and several other players noted they intend on reporting as well in the in-game chat) and it was completely ineffective. Nadeo needs to step up, this is the lowest hanging fruit moderation case you can have and nothing has been done for over a month now.
edit: I realize you might have meant that more in a way of "command worked, cool". Sorry if that's the case.

gentle pier
#

but I 100% feel your frustration, but sadly that's the only thing we can do

inland vale
# leaden wind "ban these players or we'll quit ubisoft"?

An ultimatum like that out of the blue of course wouldn't be productive. But support teams of both Nadeo and Ubisoft are people. The Nadeo team evidently needs to do more to communicate with Ubisoft's team about player moderation (modding? is this the right word?) to ensure a healthy community that nurtures growth AND retention of the old playerbase, which is the one that brings in new people after all.

Rules on consoles are much more strict compared to PC, so I'd guess as soon as the game comes out on consoles next year the whole process of reporting a player might get overhauled or it will be a higher priority to act quickly.

Doesn't make the situation better right now but there might be a better future

#

reporting players via the ubisoft support system gets those reports forwarded to nadeo who are more than capable of banning players from the game

inland vale
loud flame
#

Nadeo does not moderate the subreddit, even tho they have moderation permissions.

#

They're mostly mod so they can post announcements and can use the moderator flair for more visibility.

inland vale
#

Sure, I meant more in a way of attracting their attention to this issue

#

and forwarding to the people in their team who can ban players

loud flame
#

Well, the only official way to report players is through the Ubisoft Support and that issue will get forwarded to the right people.

inland vale
#

thanks about the staggered bans info.

#

I checked their COTD activity, they had a ~ 10 day break sometime recently.

loud flame
#

It's also the weekend, so I doubt you'll get any attention from Nadeo employees here in the mean time.

inland vale
#

maybe that was it. They're straight back on it though

#

Welp. As long as this doesn't get forgotten and is treated seriously

loud flame
#

I'd report them again for a repeat offense, I'm sure they're on Nadeo's watch list and will be taken care of as soon as Monday hits.

inland vale
#

thank you for the information

#

I'll do that

loud flame
#

you're welcome.

We understand the concern over the negative behavior of those two players but like said earlier, please use the official Ubisoft Connect website to report those players. I will allow this discussion to stay up, but I will remove all the images containing hate speech from the reported players. For the future, please only use this forum channel for technical issues.

inland vale
#

ok, I removed them (as per the your now-deleted request).

inland vale
#

when I try to append these new screenshots to the existing report on the Ubisoft player report site, I get this error.
I had the same thing last time though, but later noticed that it did actually went through (multiple times, because I kept retrying widepeepoHappy1widepeepoHappy2widepeepoHappy3)
Is there a way for me to see if this went through or not? Can't find it on my profile page of the Ubisoft site.

loud flame
#

It seems the first screenshot didn't want to upload. Can you remove it and try to resubmit?

inland vale
#

Tried that, same thing. Also converted all three to .png and tried uploading then, still the same error message. Even if I try to attach only one image (any of the three).

#

If the report won't be reviewed until Monday at the earliest anyway, I'll just keep trying over the weekend

#

Ok, I found clicking the case number opens up the report history. It does seem like it went through all 17 times, but without attaching any images. I was then able to successfully upload the screenshots through that interface. YEP

Oh, well KEKW

that's fun

We cannot permanently ban players for toxicity immediately. As Chris said, there is a system where a warning is given via e-mail, and then temporary suspensions/bans that increase based on severity.

If you've reported someone before, and after some time you see them again, do not mistake that for our inability to moderate our games. There is likely a reason you did not see them around for a while. We have no control over players repeating their offensive behaviour after they have been punished - we deal with suspensions, not rehabilitation programs.

Trackmania's moderation is (I can say with confidence) one of the strictest of games you can play right now, and all reports are taken seriously and investigated - but you do have to report offenses elsewhere for them to be effective (and within protocol), and not as reddit threads or discord messages. If you see someone repeat their behaviour - best thing you can do is to send in (another) report.

Thank you & happy holidays

I reckon that for major acts of toxicity (like racial slurs), where a clear cut verdict can be made, permanent bans should be applied instantly, no excuses or waiting. For minor infrigements scaling penalties are fine, but to my eyes, getting a couple of days of a ban for something done deliberately and with bad intentions is unacceptable
