Current build:
CPU: R7 5800X
Mobo: ROG B550-F
RAM: G skill Trident Z 32GB
GPU: RTX 3070 Founders Edition
Case: Corsair 6500X
CPU Cooler: Corsair H150i Elite capellix
PSU: Corsair RM850X

Currently running on a 1080p monitor. I've been hesitant to move up to 1440p since today's games may make my system run worse, but I am unsure. I play Helldiver's 2 which has been making my CPU run hard at 100% usage. Doom TDA ran perfectly fine with no noticable frame drops. Oblivion remastered definitely had its struggle moments. I've read that moving up to 1440p may help relieve the CPU but my 3070 will struggle. Is my 5800x cpu going to keep up with a 4080 or something like that at 1440p or is it going to hold the system back?

My case has plenty of room for any upgrades I end up doing so I'm open to hear suggestions. I don't have a specific budget in mind but if I can avoid doing a complete gut out of my PC that would be nice on the wallet lol.

As a rule of thumb. The higher the resolution the less load on the cpu and the more load on the gpu

#

Since less frames for the cpu to process

#

Remember you don't have to be at 1440p ultra

#

You can try lower settings

#

But if you are going to jump to like a 4080 I would suggest you trying to find a 5800x3d

#

4080 is a big jump in performance that idk how the 5800x will do
