the 285K has like such weird power behaviors and like 8 less threads than the 14900K for way more
trying to be better with it yk
Honestly GN's review is all I can imagine you'd need
from what i heard from when intel showed off 15th gen. keep in mind these were in the footnotes of their graphs
The cheapest board is so much and the U5 245K is also insane
they ran them in weird power states like pl1 and pl2 were both 250w
and the 14th gen systems and the ryzen 9000 systems werent using fast ram
so in reality the performance uplift isnt as big as they say it was
nah imma watch steves review
oh steve did post a review
like half an hour ago
Steve GN?
nah other steve
Who?
hardware unboxed
oh ok
XD
I personally don't like him, but you do you
i like him he does good reviews
he may not have all the equipment that GN does but he does all of this at his house so yeah
i still find it funny that in the time that amd has switched sockets once intel has gone through like what 4 or 5
God this is such an ugly card
its also not good
Luckily that's not the cheapest one!
i think it mostly stemmed from that you couldnt control the blower and the fan seperately
I love the Sparkle card so much
blue
We got no blue other card :(
Building out a PC is stressful
Idk what I do this still I'm not gonna buy a desktop for like a year or so
I wanna get the i7 8750H laptop I mentioned
But this is something I'm kinda looking at
I already have a cooler and 32GB Intel XMP DDR4
Idk its hard to plan
its hard to plan if its the future
like you said you arent going to buy a desktop for like another year
so for all you know that cpu and motherboard may not be available anymore
It'd be insane if they stopped selling LGA 1700 boards by then
we shall see
I also love my G.Skill Ripjaws cause the design is cool and I don't wanna leave it
these?
Yea
I'd be fine to put that in an AMD 5000 system right?
yup
although ryzen 5000 prefers 3600mts but it doesnt really matter
I don't care too much about speed lol
Ryzen 7 5800X look nice
But sadly as you said, there's a chance that won't be avaible
im saying the "sweet spot" is 3600mts
the difference between 3200mts and 3600mts is maybe like a 3% difference in cpu performance
yeah intel wtf
being that you have ddr4 already it makes it harder for me to recommend just going zen 4 XD
that's 7000?
yes
Honestly the 7600 looks nice
forgot yall prefer ryzen 7000 and such
im so used to calling things by the architectures
HOLY SHIT
i got spelled that correctly on my first try
ignore the edited mark on the side i just went to check if i spelled it correctly turns out i did i just hit enter after hitting space
Ive watched a bit of it but GN also has a U5 245K review out
oh yeah
i saw the thumbnail
i already know what to expect just from seeing the thumbnail
Making the i7-14700K look good!
Thats my dream chip
I love the numbers
or 9700X/9900X
wasnt it the 285k that was sometimes losing to the 12600k
Yk what makes it more sad
The ryzen 9000 launch wasn't good. It made the ryzen 7000 launch look great which even that wasn't good compared to ryzen 5000 in terms of initial sales
So this was intels perfect opportunity to make up ground they lost to amd as well as confidence from their shareholders after the 13th and 14th gen cpus blowing up
But it seems that 15th gens launch isn't good either
I got a dell e196fpf at a goodwill for a new side monitor since that sceptre i had broke so side became the main (HP Compaw LA2205wg) and omg its insanely color pretty!
sadly it has no brightness adjustment and its sooo bright
Honestly means great stuff for me when I buy a new desktop!
Intel U7 265K review now out by GN
I had the realization that even a i3-12100,13100, or 14100 would be an insane CPU increase for me
I dont know how to feel about this
Even the Pentium G7400 is an increase
Sad box strikes for a 3rd time
Here its $10 less
Than the regular X
Acting like physical games are a pain, ugh
There were also these
$300 feels like a lot for r5 7600 or is that just ryzen 7000 pricing
wonder why it was cheaper at my walmart
Its normally like $200
okay good iām not crazy lol
granted its not like walmart really cares if they sell a few thats good enough for them
So guys. Idk when i can, but Im finally going to be able to sell my H110 + i5-6500 and H270 + i7-7700 stuff!
Then I can hopefully get a new PC or a older laptop on ebay for like $400
Im not saying that alone will get me that far
But also, its closer. And with that i can get like a Ryzen 7600/5800X or i5-12600KF??
Idk what Iām doing but Iām planning!
seems legit! once ur plan is finished youāll know what ur doing
Thats what I keep telling myselfš
So I'm not the best with like computer specing stuff so I need a little help. If I can get a RTX 2080 for about $100 less than a RTX 3060 is that a good idea?
yeah i say thats fine
issue being that the rtx 2080 is now 6 years old
do you need the nvenc encoder?
Yeah
Also what's wrong with a 6 year old graphics card? If its good its good no?
(Btw I qualify a 780 as good so anything is fine really)
im referencing driver support
simply its an older card which means it will lose driver support sooner
but i think nvidia still supports pascal so its whatever
900 series is still supported so I'm sure 20 series will be fine
you do you
had to double check lol but yeah
if its still supported then sweet
i think nvidia is better at driver support than amd
i think amd stopped supporting polaris
Oh yeah. I think the RX 580 is like a year out of support
forget when polaris started
so dont ask me
i think it was like rx 400 series
yeah 400 series
Although something to consider. RTX 3060's tdp is 170w vs RTX 2080's 250w. But I usually play with a 60FPS cap on
i forget what it is
RX 400 was June 2016
i think the running joke was that the rx 580 is the rx 470+++++
because its like the same die just clocked harder
also my dog just escaped again
so i have to go get him
halfway tempted to toss him outside for the night since he wants to escape so much
its not like its going to be bad i have a fenced in area that i let them out into during the day
i also have 2 outside dogs he likes
ok i put him back in
fucker went downstairs
Fucks sake he got out again
I spend 2 hours actually getting the hard drive cage out butā¦
after a blood sacrifice (real), random tools from the garage, removing literally everything, and many zip ties
I have not only given my i7-3770 and (more importantly) GTX 780 have a bit more airflow
ah, the pc building gods have taken their allotted blood sacrifice
Lmao
The bandage on my finger is not happy
Neither was my finger cause of the stuff you dump on it to disinfect it that burns
Also me cause i was on the end of the finger
Lets just hope this actually helps airflow and 780 temps
Getting a 250w GPU may have been a mistake but oh well
so apparently the 9800X3D is on average 20% faster than the U9 285k
Can someone with a newer CPU show their CPU-Z? I wanna see how many instruction sets my thing is behind
@dense gale
oho when i get back iāll run lscpu and see what it gives me
woah
hmmmmm lscpu may not give me the instruction set list
:(
If I get money out of my birthday gifts I'm gonna try to get like a 16GB ram kit like this!
For DDR3 this is my favourite kit and it'll be a lot better than what I have now
Currently rocking 1333 12GB of mismatched so it's running hella crap
its a 2x4GB pair we already had and a 4GB stick
or... although pricey. I have to find out if my computer would support it first but I could do this!
wish companies would make kits like that again
nowadays everything is just black, white and grey
Everything in PC is just that now
I just want my pretty colours
We have a FM1 and FM2 board and theyāre both that Asus brown, blue, and white and I love how it looks
But I do think greys look nice
Guys
Huge upgrade
My stepdad is letting my use his third PC motherboard anf CPU til he needs it
AMD Ryzen 5 1600(iāll check if its X)
And some AM4 board
So now i also get to use my 32GB ddr4 i havent been able to use in a while
Sweet
At micro center just got a case for $50 and Acer monitor for $90 thats 1080P IPS 120Hz
Ya girl is getting an upgrade!
27ā sadly but i plan to get a deeper desk eventually
27 is as big as you wanna go for 1080p iāve heard
I always have to look a bit down with my past monitors
i think thats how ur supposed to set things up for ergonomics
No youre supposed to be at eye level for the top of your monitor
If i look straight ahead im always like a few inches up
ah then ya need to raise it a bit
but better to be looking down at ur monitor than up
oh thats a funny coincidence
Are you?
yeah lol
Lmao
How tall we talking i feel like I should go down to a smaller screen because I'm a little short XD
Oh wait
I just read more
Wait nvm I'm confused
My 2 braincells are fighting for 3rd place rn
kodoku tall
monitor stand short
issue for me when i use my dads pc i obviously dont have this issue with my laptop being that its a laptop is. the chair doesnt go high enough and even if it did my knees would hit the desk because it has 2 steel beams underneath it so i would have to move the chair back which i can but i also cant because then i cant reach the keyboard since my arms wouldnt be long enough
I ended up not using that Ryzen 5 1600 cause we couldn't get the motherboard out cause of 2 screws
So I'm using my i7-7700 and that small H110 board
and OMG this was so fun to build
And I haven't done much yet. But 120hz is so smooth!
I've just been downloading setups and played 5 minutes of MC but it feels so nice
6'0"
Fr?
yEAH
Damn I wish I was 6'0
no you dont lol. being tall sucks
I'm 5'7½ i rather be taller
6'0 ain't even that bad it's not like you're those giants that are 6'7+
Are the 40 series gfx cards worth it from a 3080 upgrade?
I despise how big they are, but if it's genuinely notibly better, I may consider it for my new streaming + recording rig I might build
Just cause the rig'll be under such heavy heavy load
Which 40 series are you wanting
Because 4090 is like 40-50% faster than 3090
Msi sells slim versions of the 4090 btw
they also sell slim versions of the 4080 super if you rather have that card instead
1120$^^^^^^^^
1950$^^^^^^^^^^^^^
both are 3 slot cards
in cyberpunk at 4k the 4090 gets like twice the performance of a 3080
thats with ray tracing on btw
oh also
another thing
frame generation is on 40 series and not 30 series
Do you have one streaming/recording and a second PC for running the games themselves? The 40 series can be a good upgrade (especially with that increased VRAM) but if the current setup isn't getting bogged down it might be worth it to wait and save up for newer cards. Unless you aren't hitting the fps/settings you want in games
but nvidia is a good company
For some reason this statement reminded me I gotta update my GPU drivers now that nvidia fixed those exploits
lol
i say it as a joke
because nvidia is a good company when it comes to making something that just works
and if there is a bug they fix it fast
problem is they charge an arm and a leg for their cards
Depends, I'd say no if you're gaming at 1080P and game streaming and editing videos.
Any more specifics on what you'd be using it for exactly/does your 3080 have anything about it you dislike?
It'd be used for streaming and recording max loads. No gaming on the rig!
I have a dual pc setup for streaming currently, but my Corsair One is definitely on its last legs with handling load after looking at some stuff the other night
It's got a 2080 in it and it's from 2019, so it's getting up there in terms of outdated use
I forgot you have a dual pc setup XD
I've always loved the compactedness of it, but I think airflow might be becoming a problem for the intensity I'm wanting to throw at it
Also ewww a corsair one. I saw a review of that at one point with a 3080 I think and the cooling for the gpu wasn't nearly enough
Yeah I've got another one for the guest office. I genuinely think people don't set them up right and have issues, but maybe I'm lucky
It wasn't even a 240mm aio it only had 1 fan so part of the radiator didn't even have air flowing through it because it was like a 180mm radiator
I've never had issues with mine. Only reason I don't want to use the guest office one is I feel like it might be worth the jump to the 4080 or 4090 for the rig
Ahhhh oof
I mean if it's just the streaming pc you may not need to go for a 4080/4090
I did post 2 links to a 4080 slim and a 4090 slim if you wanted to see those
Well it won't be just for streaming. It'll be streaming and recording at high 1080p
It'll be more intensive than just running a game on a pc for example
Ight
but also top of the line 40 series wont need an upgrade as soon hopefully
Yeah other concern is 50 series comes out and it's not like any of us'll be able to get our hands on it for a year
Cause scalpers and shit
I don't know much about that type of work load so I can't really say much besides that all 40 series still have the same encoder which is great
the 40 series should handle the streaming + recording easily for 1080p 60fps, also depends on the bitrate (but twitch is fairly low on its bitrate anyway)
Need to check that again to make sure I'm correct on it
Not that nvidia is raising the prices but just a shift in supply
I do remember 1 tech reviewer saying that with the exception of waiting for the 9800x3d just buy now
9000 series x3d just launched right?
November 7th
oh right, just announced
4070 Super is a great card for that sorta thing
Ive heard AV1 is an amazing codec
Good performance for the price (for Nvidia) and is alreadt aimed at 1440P and in some games can do 4K High
Imo, 4090 isnāt worth it unless youāre like gaming at 8K or editing 8K video. Its so hard to justify ever
And arent they like 2K alone, then you have to spend an insane amount on a PC that can even make that purchase worth it
Mhm
Holy shit i got alot of reading to do
This would actually help me with stuff like this
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_NVENC
hereās a link to wikiās page for Nvidiaās NVENC
Obviously youāll only be on 8th Gen, but if you look up āRTX 40X0 (Super and/or Ti)ā, look at techpowerups website itāll tell you what die it has
Nvidia NVENC (short for Nvidia Encoder) is a feature in Nvidia graphics cards that performs video encoding, offloading this compute-intensive task from the CPU to a dedicated part of the GPU. It was introduced with the Kepler-based GeForce 600 series in March 2012 (GT 610, GT620 and GT630 is Fermi Architecture).
The encoder is supported in many ...
My GTX 780 has the GK110, Iāve only recorded with 1080P 60 but even that didnāt have issues
You ever noticed that nvidia switched how they named their dies with the 40 series
I guess that is a little misleading
How? It feels like its just to match the architecture
with AD fore ADa lovelace
Although thatās just my guess
I only really said it because 30 series used GA but 40 series used AD being that 30 series and 40 series had the same first letter of the architecture
Although looking back at it turing was TU
wat
Guess I'm grasping at straws when I looked at 2 thing
Idk anymore lol
MB
Fuck it let me go look
AHA
I was onto something
GF-fermi
GK-kepler
GM-maxwell
GP-pascal
GA-ampere
All have Gs XD
Now I gotta see if nvidia used a T name for an architecture way back
Ahhh fucking knew it
I was even right on what the name was
It was tesla
That's why turing was TU
And not GT
Yeah Tesla, but that never has NVENC
nothing to do with nvenc
Also predated gaming creators by a good bit
i was just talking about the naming of the dies
nothing to do with them having nvenc
Yeah Tesla/200 was GT
yes ik that
since i went to look
which makes me understand why with turing nvidia used TU since they already used GT
and hence why with 40 series nvidia used AD since 30 series used GA
did you like the looks of those gpus kruz
Forgot to put but these are the parts I have in my PC
Already has everything but the 500SSD i got for my bday, only got to use the cooler for like a couple weeks prior, same with the RAM, had the CPU, GPU, Motherboard, 240GB SSD, and PSU
Also put 4 fans in it yesterday
For about $190 the i9-10850K looks kinda nice
10 Cores and 20 Threads up to 5.20GHz on a slightly older platform
not bad thats basically the same price as the 5700x3d
I also found out that 120hz doesnt make you better at games
I just popped off for some reason yesterday
I'd get to keep my memory too!
As a kid I always said I'd be so much better once I got above 15fps.
Now I run at 120fps in most games and sill can't land a shot lmao
I think those 10 Cores will be nice for rendering
new GN Ryzen 7 9800X3D review
the fact that even the 5600x3d is faster in some games than the u9 285k is just funny
3D V-Cache will do a lot for you
Also making an architecture that's slower in some cases than a 2 generation (technically 1) doesn't help
Its crazy to me that a 4070 Super is better than a 3090 (minus the VRAM)
thatās what generational uplift will do for ya
doesnāt hurt when ur transistor node improves between gens either (samsung 8lph for 30 series vs tsmc 4n for 40 series according to wikipedia)
Honestly, the 4070S is like the best card to buy. 4080S and 4090 obv are better but for sure a crazier price
idk i like my rx 7900xtx
I just want Nvidia cause I know Nvenc is good
Iām sure Iād be happy with a 6700 XT but like, idk about the encoder
God I love this case, with InWin still sold theirs
I'm looking to build a pc with the fractal north or north xl but i dont know what to put in it. I know i want to play aaa games and stream.
budget?
2k give or take
oooooooooh nice i think thats what i went for when i built mine
ryzen 7 7700x
radeon rx 7900 xtx
32 gb DDR5 ram
ASUS TUF AM5 motherboard
etc
wifi or no
actually
it doesnt matter
all the "cheap" atx b650 boards all have wifi
@pallid tree https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Z4dLrM
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower
side note if you want more cores you could swap the 7700x for a 7900 and it would put you at 2000.83$
i could probably get this lower
ok so for 10$ less we can go with https://pcpartpicker.com/product/szfxFT/msi-b650-gaming-plus-wifi-atx-am5-motherboard-b650-gaming-plus-wifi
which would lower the build to under 2000$ if you want to go with the 7900
but i didnt chose this board was because it only has 2 m.2 slots while the gigabyte eagle has 3 for just 10$ more
Whats a good video editing software that is also free?
@dense gale someone overclocked the 9800X3D and was getting 1500fps in valorant 1080p max settings
davinci resolve ⦠tho itās kinda a lot at first thereās some good videos on how to to do the basics
Love this, but i know people dont recommend AMD for streaming cause at the same 6K bitrate Radeon looks a lot worse. But for that price they cause get the 4070 Ti Super
Woah
Iāve heard good stuff about DaVinci Resolve
and thats why for the person wanting to spend 2k on a pc i put a 4080super XD
For twitch they look the same honestly
@shell notch
why is there a mobile chip in the middle there
why not? its insane.... also it's Harlequin's cpu
that isnt mine though
cpubenchmark
What wrong with it?
7945HX3D has the least amount of L3 cache even though it's basically identical to the 7950X3D just clocked lower, cant draw as much power and has a better igpu
Meanwhile my cpu on the very left
pretty sure if you allowed the 2 on the left to draw as much power as they wanted they both get basically the same score
another day of giving build advice
Can anyone tell me if these sound different to you? They sound EXACTLY the same to me
maybe ur headphones arenāt good enough to hear the difference
havenāt had a chance to listen
Same
Thanks Razer and HyperX
I'm using a razer headset rn XD
I'll return the Razers cause I've had the HXs for about a year and a half and I can actually use them on my phone
should i wait for any sales like cyber Monday or buy everything now? and what thermal paste should i use?
Thermal past is already on the cooler
And if you want to wait sure
Just to see the deals
Idk when black Friday is i always forget
Im on the Framework website and my GTX 780 is at 92% and my i7-7700 is at 56% holy shit (literally nothing else was open)
lol
My friend just have the best upgrade ever. Her iphone 8 had bad issues for years and she got a spare Galaxy Note 9 from her uncle
Peak phone design
Does anyone know if 6 Cores is good enough for a decent gaming pc that's also used for recording gameplay and editing + rendering 1080p 60fps video? And is 32GB really necessary?
6 cores depends on the cpu, and the rendering depends on if you are using gpu or cpu for it. Though I'd recommend gpu rendering anyway.
32gb of ram will be nice when rendering.
For ram depends on how many chrome tabs you have open
That's not a joke btw I had a game open and like 3 chrome tabs open and I was at 15.2gb of ram usage
Mainly from the game
actually with just a few chrome tabs for reading open and discord im using 9gb of ram
I've heard its like less accurate than GPU rendering. But if I have a new GPU then I can try
I'm looking at like the Ryzen 5 7600, Ryzen 5 9600X, or Ryzen 7 9700X
- the joke about chrome using a lot of ram is weird cause everyone says it and i never had issues on chrome
- i use firefox
only chrome tabs i have open
all for reading XD
using a 16 core laptop for reading XD
i do play games on it just not that often because my wifi is shit
me using a 4 core desktop for editing lul
also the people who i normally play with usually get off at like 5pm
btw
battery life with this thing
sucks so much
this is my game area, but i havent been playing gta, overwatch lately (in ow it crashes), and goose goose duck and ultimate chicken horse i played one time
yeah that's a gaming laptop moment right there
honestly
its pretty inaccurate
while the battery life does suck
its not 2 hours suck
its more like 4
on my i7-4700MQ I'd get like 1 if i'm lucky
i will say this
being on wifi with this thing is the stupidest joke ever
idk whats the cause
but whenever im reading
which is most of the time
this thing loves to disconnect from the wifi
but when i play games it doesnt disconnect
not even once
yet it will disconnect 20 times in a hour while reading
luckily while reading its already loaded and there isn't much to load when you do
Funny thing
Doesn't always load the chapter all the way before it dies
I swear it's a troll
Legit sometimes disconnects 5 seconds after I connect it
For the most part it's not an issue
Just gets really really fucking annoying
Oh I had that on my 2012 macbook when i had that on windows, reinstall your graphics drivers and that should work
that was always my issue
I just restarted my laptop and it fixed it
Oh nice
The flickering issue isn't as bad as it used to be
also i kinda do a stupid thing when i play games with this laptop
because i dont like the noise i tend to leave it in silent mode
which also lowers the power draw so it doesnt have to ramp the fans
because of that my fps tends to be meh
so sometimes when the fps is being really inconsistent i put it to performance mode and my fps would go from like 35 to like 100+
its weird
because even in silent mode i can get 100fps
but then randomly it drops down and never comes back up
nothing important but i wanted to share my new mic!
If i was thinking of just replacing my graphics card, since it seems to have issues monthly ever since moving, do you yall think it'd be best to just get the same one, or upgrade a level or two
I've had the card as long as I've had my computer, about 4-5 years now so I'm not suprised it's having issues, I'm just kinda tired of being unable to use my computer because of it.
Current is Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060
The RTX 3060 is still pretty good
I mean if the issues are that annoying sure
Getting the same card is a good idea tbh
40 series production from what I understand has ended
I could get a 40 series if it's better then using an older one, idk if it'd be okay in my computer or not
Never had to replace before , used to prebuilt pcs
Replacing a gpu isn't hard
The annoying thing is unlocking the latch on the pcie slot
But your limiting factor would be your psu
and maybe case size but likely not
If you want to get 40 series youād need to get the 4070 for it to be worth it
The 4060 is similar in performance with a bit less vram
I'm not really sure what I'd want
I don't care about things looking pretty, I just want to run the game without fear or overheating, crashing, or lagging/stuttering
I feel that replacing may be the best action since the card has has repeated issues
And i just don't know how to fix it every time
warranty/rma period is probably over, yeah?
Believe so
I got the card with the pc and it's parts at the same time
Which was about 4-5 years ago now
not bad! thatās lasted quite a while
Here lemme get an accurate timeframe
could almost consider getting a whole new pc
might be smarter to just replace gpu tho if everything else seems to be working fine
gotcha gotcha. i would lean toward just replacing gpu then
And i need to fix the windows issue I'm having
But I don't think that's a replacing matter
I think i.may need to wipe my pc to fix it
of the gpus that are equal or better in performance, i would pick the one that maximizes price to performance stat
Are you just gaming on the pc
Gaming, and usual stuff like YouTube, twitch, discord
just the one hard drive in there?
It has a built in hard drive and then i got it a 3tb one
could get a 100/200 gb ssd and install fresh windows on that to see if that fixes the OS issue
would not affect ur existing install at all i think
you can get the official installer from microsoft
you just download it onto the usb
Never said anything about buying lol
im just saying its free
Ye
unless something has changed ⦠thereās a lot you canāt do on the free version of windows
youāll want to activate it lol
no worries
ik theres some admin things you cant do like setting up other accounts but otherwise i think its mostly cosmetic stuff
I feel bad that I'm always asking help, wish I knew on my own
your fine
Would make things alot easier
not everyone knows everything
eh, we all had to learn these things from somewhere
heck i appear knowledgeable about these things but theres alot i dont know
same
I can tell you alot about the actual use of a computer
But ask me what's inside it i won't know lol
better to have courage to ask for help when you donāt know things
im more of the type to spec a pc for someone but i cant really do trouble shooting besides resetting cmos and other minor things
Psu are you asking about the power supply?
yes
It just clicked in my head
psu- power supply unit
It's what came with the case, one sec I'll find out
because ultimately we dont want to bottleneck your next gpu with the 10400f
and we want to make sure your psu can support it
regardless of whether you like it or not 600W is probably a bit small for even current system
Could that be causing the gpu issues?
It never had issues till I moved out here
I thought maybe it was out outlets in this house
Our*
it wouldnt be the psu in that case
if it was doing fine with that psu beforeā¦
if it wasnt having issue before
yup
Okay I can rule that out then
I figured the issues are mainly with the card
The repair tech i took it too said the thermal paste was fine
oh thatās good. was gonna say next steps would be reseating in slot and maybe repasting but sounds like youāve done that
I hadn't tried reseating
you either have an E tier psu or an F tier psu from what im reading its an F tier
Tho I am wondering
Because last time I had blackscreening the repair tech said I shouldn't use compressed air on the gpu
well they took it out to look at the paste did they not?
i havenāt heard this before tbh
thats dumb
I used the air again without thinking because the card was in the 70s while running games and it worried me
the only reason why you wouldnt is because of the fans
but even then just hold onto the fans
I sprayed it in the fans both times
its fine
Assuming that was where dust buildup was
theres a bunch of stuff to ground any static
It didn't instantly start blackscreening tho
maybe reset the cmos?
I played till 11 pm then next morning I played from 10 pm to 2 pm and it blackscreened around 2 pm and I instantly just shut down the pc in fear
if you dont have the button on the back of the motherboard you will see a little battery on the motherboard
Yea.
anyways
about the potential gpu upgrade thing
you wouldnt want to go past a 6700xt level of performance
due to your cpu
even the 6700xt is pushing it
What would be recommended then?
I only care about it running well, not overheating, and minimal stutters or lagging
Performance is my prio
Quality isn't as important to me
looks like 6650 xt is best value according to this chart
and it's not putting up numbers like the 6700xt so cpu wont be bottlenecking
Would it matter to go from nvidia to rizen?
radeon
Rizen?
and no, not really
unless there's some key nvidia-only feature that you are using rn lol
also
I don't think so
i would rather go with the 7600 over the 6650xt
sure, still a good value
since its newer and you can find them for roughly the same price
What is the price typically?
chart is showing 6650xt for 40 dollars less
6650xt : 209
7600 : 249
according to that chart i linked they have similar performance
i rather see gaming benchmarks
meh
passmark and those things dont really translate to gaming
not an exact translation, sure
well tech power up says the same thing so ill believe it
more concerned about driver support
since amd isnt as good with driver support as nvidia
Do we know what else is in the system other than a 3060?
yes
What is?
Do you do anything on the computer other than play games? Like stream or anything?
maybe
Then yeah a AMD Radeon card will work fine
Intel Arc is looking better!
If you guys want to build a PC in the near future
It would be incredibly wise to do so before the new year.
I'd wait for Nvidia's 5000 series
Cause ideally 4000 prices go down, or if the performance is a lot better it's right around the corner
if thatās the case then 4000 series prices soon will probably be the same or more, given what i believe bloo is alluding to
As far as I'm aware 40 series production has ended
So what I'm hearing is i use wait to upgrade my GPU or just do it soon š¤?
since you are in canada, you might be able to wait for 5000 series to come out
those of us in the US are not so lucky
We might be getting new intel gpus next month
Iām praying B750 will be amazing
i5-14400F is good yeah? I'm looking at PC options after I move and theres a costco PC that has that, a 4060, 2TB SSD, and 32GB DDR5 for $850 and wanna know if that's a bad idea (btw the ram is dual channel)
Just get the 13400f if it's cheaper it's the same cpu
It's a prebuilt that's not really an option
Yeah, it's like a $1100 value and that was me kinda skimping out and cutting corners on PCPartPicker
That's a second attempt to remake it
And obv the case is different but pff who cares
Its a nuts value
And a 2 year warranty is awesome
And the fact that when I move I'm likely not bring my keyboard, theres a chance. And my mouse is another "maybe"
I'm so fed up with the blackscreening, everything's fine for a few days then it's right back to having problems
My buddy said if I replaced the graphics card I should get a 3090
What's the current gpu
Nvidia GeForce RtX 3060
I'd say get a 4070 Super, about the same price range and it draws way less power
The 4070 ties the 3090 is 1080P gaming and the Super outperforms it by about 15+ frames
Would my pc be able to handle it?
Also 4070 Super draws 220W and the 3090 draws 350w and likely can go past cause I remember the 3000 series having huge power spikes over their tdp
What's your processor?
Go to the settings app, then go to system, and at the bottom of the left click on about and it'll say right there
Yea it's a i5 10400f
In some games you might be CPU bound, but the 4070 Super in my guess is like the best you can do before you get TOO much bottle necking. Or you can go with like an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
Actually yeah I'd recommend that more
For you CPU
thatās what harlequin was saying earlier i think ⦠no more than 6700xt to avoid bottlenecking
I walk away from my pc when these issues happen to help me think better, but I'm really just scratching my head because we've done so many things to try to fix it and it just band-aid patches it effectively, i even wiped my entire pc to fix the windows issue and reinstalled all graphics related things n it's still having these problems
If you plan to upgrade the cpu eventually, going with a more powerful gpu isn't neccesarily a bad idea, even if it means the cpu being a bottleneck
It isn't overheating, gpu use only ever gets to like 78%, unless I'm just not looking st the right stuff to monitor it properly. But I'm just thinking maybe it's just dying from constant use.
You'd need to view the temps instead of utilization
But again, I don't know enough
I watch the temps like a madman through task manager it rarely goes above 60c on my most demanding games
oh yeah 60c is good
Yesterday night I tried out a new game and it spiked to 78 c and crashed but I figured out it was a game issue and just havnt tried with that game again
It'd be nice if you could get another gpu to borrow temporarily for testing, but I know thats not realistic for most people
I wish I had someone that could just come over and look at it for me but I moved away from anyone that could sadly
And i don't have the money to take it to a pc repair tech again when all they did was remove everything n put it back in n still charged me
I am reaching the limits of what I can do with a 4 Core lol
Nothing is playing or rendering yet!
I guess the timeline is just that intensive
on this dinosuar
or smth like that
Prob
that video took 2 and a half hours to render, an its 17:47
5700x is 130$ rn
WOAH
I feel like I'm just being a pain at this point but I'm not even positive if my issue is purely graphics card related and looking and online prices idk if I can even afford a new one ._.
I feel so lost about the whole thing
I hate it.
i feel that
does anyone know if there are any decent monitors for sale?
Look on newegg for prices
If you want to learn about monitors i would recommend monitors unboxed on youtube
ok thank you
so
im thinking of just getting new ram for my lapotp
i lowkey wonder is 64gb will work
do you need 64GB?
what would the limiting factor be, memory controller have a limit?
so the laptop supports 32gb
the cpu can handle more
do i need 64gb no
i just wonder if it would work
why would you get 64GB anyways? Just for the status or something?
litterally just said why
thinking about it
i understand why when i play games my fps just randomly tanks
im running out of ram XD
so this is the best selling one on newegg
but i can buy 2 of these and it would be cheaper
actually
this is funny
a 5600mts stick is 10$ cheaper than the 5200mts stick
32GB would be perfect for having stuff open while playing games
i may just buy the 5600mts kit and reduce the speed down to 5200mts
Why would you do that?
dragon range only supports 5200mts
Dragon range?
idk
probably
idk if shit with laptops works differently
oh ffs
im hearing noises again
My old MSI laptop capped like 3200 to 2666 so my guess is yeah
side note
i was browsing google street view last night
found my grandpa in one of the passes from 2011 XD
(screenshot from another discord cause im lazy)
thats lovely
When my GTX 970 comes in it'll be able to do all I really need to. After that would there really be an reason to upgrade?
Sweet
Hey all. Since I havnt been able to fix my issue and I'm just tired of messing with it and don't have a ton of money + it's cyber Monday I'm looking at just going back to prebuilt gaming pcs
If anyone has a recommendation, lmk, atm I am looking at wal mart and newegg for a good gaming pc that's not too expensive prefer
kruz has a go-to prebuilt company i think
I'm not throwing out my old pc, I'm just gunna put it to the side till I could learn more about fixing them or find someone local that can look at it without charging me up the wazoo.
She does? I didn't know that
cant member which one atm haha
If you think of it definitely lmk
yerrr someone will know it
i found it
oh thats funny
@dusk iris its pinned in this channel
Oh wow they are a bit pricey lol
But they look amazing
Yea my budget rn is between 700 - 1k rn so that'd have to be once I have a job
I've been trying out DaVinci Resolve for video editing and its actually pretty nice!
Yeah this is the cheapest one I see they have
$1300 for a computer with those parts is insane though
Holy
Yee i just couldn't currently afford it but I'll definitely keep that site in mind when I need a new pc again and have the funds
Do you want the link for the PC partpicker? The specs of it are pretty decent
you got ur new prebuilt yesterday right durius?
hopefully you can get it before any tariffs are put in place
I'm moving in April
Whats the chances I'm gonna have to ship this one across the country and be stuff with the specs in it for a while?
we shall see
I wish my stepdads friend got a PC like a year later
Cause its a 7th gen i7
If it was an i7-8700 it'd be amazing
Then I also wouldn't really need a new PC
oh that reminds me i have a 6700 lying around i need to get a new motherboard for it
Oh I have a H270 board I'd be willing to sell ya! I've been meaning to put it on ebay
oh my! if i donāt find something locally iāll keep that in mind
Yes
Today is clean up my room n getting it set up day

It's the Asus H270 Prime Plus or something
Why tf is this a 13 minute video
wait lol
Does amd have an app like nvidia for updating gpu?
Also is there an app I can use for updating drivers in general? Cause i have the hardest time finding out what needs updating most days
wdym by updating gpu, like drivers? amd radeon software should auto-check for new drivers
also i donāt update other drivers regularly unless they update through the OS
Yes
I'm also confused on how to add my 3tb to this pc
It looks similar to my old pc but also diff at the same time
so itās sata power and sata data on one end of the drive yeah?
ah youāll need to screw it down somewhere then
okay yeah thatās what i expected
Yea that's what I'm hunting for but I don't see anything that looks like a spot
looks like the case has spots for 2.5ā drives but not 3.5ā
So this one's too big?
I see the hard drove cage
Drive***
The hard drive cage is behind the power cables
Unless I'm wrong it should be there
That?
Yeah looking at it it's the hard drive cage
i didnāt look too closely behind the power supply outputs lol
add a circle lol
Bruh
but like even if itās not back there thatās where the drive will have to go anyway
ope haha right
It's all hooked up
Something I havnt seen before i plugged it into my surge protector it sparked
Like the inside of the outlet lit up
Idk if I'm using the right word ll
i think you are lol. maybe itās the dry december air?
Maybe?
It only did it with my pc
The monitors didn't spark
I'm so paranoid every Lil thing is scaring me lol
Several months of pc issues broke me i guess
It is an old surge protector
But it's the only one with alot of slots that we have
I ought replace it tho
I think I'm just being paranoid but fans revving up n down at first is normal right?
probably
this is also confusing to me
i have two?
one seems to be hotter then the other as well
One is the chip
Oh
should i be worried at all?
im sorry im just insanely paranoid after all the trouble with my old pc
the fans revving up n down are scaring me bad
the heats are scaring me
idk i think im traumatized T-T
Lol you're good
I think gpu1 is your dedicated card
50° C is not bad at all if it's sitting idle
Lol all good I think my processor reaches 78° will playing games
i never saw two on my old pc
makes me wonder
how long does the fans usually keep revving like this cause my old one never did that
part of why im concerned
do i need to adjust fan speed possibly?
saying that like i even know how
also i think im gunna get a new
surge protector
this one i have is very old
and i'd feel safer replacing it
Um fans usually increase / decrease speed to adjust the temperature inside
Sooo I think it might be normal if it's not rapidly increasing or decreasing speeds
one is the igpu on the cpu itself
At first it was, now it's just kinda randomly doing it. It may be doing it now because I'm downloading two games I want back
After it finishes I think I'll give it a break from running stuff then come back after dinner
I need to get a 2K display lol
This issue doesn't come up that often but when it does, its rough
intel b580 gpu coming on the 13th are 249$ and the b570 is coming January 16th at 219$
I'm excited for that
I plan on getting a prebuilt as my first pc until I can save up to actually build one. These are my top choices based on reviews and budget. The only problem is idk if one is better than the other
I know nothing about pcs right now
How much do you have right now and how much are you planning to save?
With the incoming tarrifs PC parts will get even more expensive and I'd wait to look til you have your money all saved up
But of those 2 PCs the 2nd one is a lot better
Right now a couple hundred but I don't plan on building my own for probably a couple years, I wanna learn about pcs before I buy anything
Ty oh wise one
That makes me feel better
lol
I honestly have no idea how I go into tech
Older Austin Evans videos are a good start I think. Like 2017-2019 was the era I started on, same with Linus Tech Tips
Actually I found this one, that's made by the same people of the one I was originally gonna get, I hope it's worth the price lmao
And that price is?
About 1100
Idk the prices off the top of my head but that sounds decent
Plus through Amazon I can do payments so I don't have to pay it all outright
Intel is looking for a new ceo
Curious question, do you guys leave your pcs running all the time or do you shut them down when not in use? I've heard both ends, ppl say shutting it down when not in use is bad for it or ppl say leaving it on 24/7 is bad for it. What do you guys think? I use to leave mine on all the time and it was fine till a few months ago, now I shut this new one down when I don't plan on using it for more then a few hours
I turn it off before bed, and just turn it on when I need it then leave it on till then
I used to leave it on all the time, before bed I'd set stuff to download or update then in the am I'd restart it
The old pc only got shut off if I was leaving the house or if I went on vacay
The way I look at it is you should shut your pc down at least twice a week
Just so that way your pc doesn't start to slow down because it hasn't been restarted in a while
I always shut them off
wdym
if they are recommending a 6600 for an amd gpu equivalent for ray tracing performance to the 2060 thats about right
amd is a generation behind nvidia in ray tracing performance
so a 6600 ray tracing being similar to the 2060 makes sense
and im pretty sure they would know how "bad" it is being that they have to test the games on the hardware and optimize for it then give the recommendations
whatever i guess im wrong sorry
Is there a way to tell what surge protector would be appropriate for my pc?
I got a new one but I think it might be the wrong one
how would it be wrong?
oh good š
Trying to figure out how much wattage this pc has as well
Wondering if it's better to plug it in the wall vs the protector
The site doesn't list the wattage
On the psu
def plug it in to the surge protector
Yea that's my thinking too
Rather be safe then sorry
Rather have to replace another surge protector then a whole new pc again
Desk and pc are ordered, just have to wait a bit more to get the monitors and the chair
yoo
thats sick
im upgrading too soon!
i'm going to get like an 8th gen Intel or 2nd/3rd gen Ryzen
Whatever is cheaper in combo with the board
and then considering I already have a 32GB kit of Intel XMP memory
Yeah when I learn more about parts and whatnot I might Frankenstein my prebuilt but that won't happen for awhile
any idea how to fix a mouse moving monitors while gaming?
are you having this problem with one game or like all of them?
all
ooooh well ummmm
ur OS is windows i assume?
yes
mhm okay i ask cuz i dont think ive ever had a problem like this on windows, only on linux
i got nothing lol. only other thing i can think to ask is what gpu you have
Geforce gtx 1660
Omg the Ryzen 5 4500 is only $68 NEW
That's insane!
Next step up is like a i3-13100F for $78
Anybody know any good headsets to buy? Looking to get one as a gift for Christmas for somebody

I have the Hyper Cloud III Alpha and they're great, but for some reason the mic on PC has never been good
My friend uses the Razer Blackshark V2 X and her mic sounds decent and she said the audio sounds nice
Nice I'll take a look at em š
the anti sag bracket doesn't fit on my fractal north case for my 4080 super
is it possible to put something under the card that supports the one āunsupportedā corner?
i think so there is like a metal platform there
this is an example i saw but dont know how feasible it is
