#Speedrun to Aim Improvement

I wish I opened this earlier so that you could follow my progress since the very beginning, but I didn't imagine I'd put so much effort on this...

Why am I doing this? I am curious to know how much the aim alone can improve me in FPS games. On top of this I think controlling mouse very well is a useful skill to have at basically any game (with mouse) so I think it's a good investment of time.
Why a speedrun? Too curious to take it slow... but after Platinum Complete I might be forced to slow down...

Context:
-I am a casual gamer w.r.t. FPS games.
-Before the Voltaic journey I spent around 50 hours on Aimlabs during the last year essentially playing sixshot (my first high score ever was 45k, which went up to 94k by that time) which provided me an initial advantage in the clicking part (probably silver/gold level) but the rest was terrible.
-I started the Voltaic journey almost 2 weeks ago. As I mentioned i was silver/gold level in clicking but my tracking was so bad that in my first tracking scenario (for precision, not even reactive) my score was 1/4 of iron and I was like "how am I supposed to do this?"

Progress so far: #UPDATING THIS#
Nov 12: Started my Voltaic journey
Nov 20: Gold Complete
Nov 22: First Platinum scores + 1 Diamond score (accidental)
Nov 24: Platinum Overall
Nov 25: Platinum Complete
Nov 26: 4 Diamonds in Tracking
Dec 4: Diamond Overall
Dec 6: Diamond Complete
Dec 9: Jade Overall
Dec 17: First Master scores
Dec 19: First GM score
Dec 22: Jade Complete
Dec 23: Break started (current: Jade Complete, 780 energy)

Hardware/Other
Laptop with 15.6-inch screen
Mouse Logitech G502 until 4th Dec, then OP1W 4k
Artisan Zero mousepad (about 40 cm I think)
Sensitivity: 41,6 cm, using it for ALL Scenarios

The following image is my progress when I started this post.

Just got Platinum in DotTS.

I realized i was pressing too hard the left-click button of the mouse which made me micro harder and slower when off target

#

Platinum also in EddieTS

It's just about quickly flicking to the next target and accompany target's movement smoothly

sleek canyon
#

Platinum in DriftTS as well

I don't understand very well this task. I noticed I performed better just when I focused completely on tracking

sleek canyon
#

Platinum in ControlTS

It's similar to EddieTS but here you must be more careful about the movement of the next target you are gonna switch to, cause here the tracking time required is longer so it's good to put more emphasis on that

#

Switching complete as well

sleek canyon
#

Btw these were my scores after my very first day of training

sleek canyon
#

I'll stop for today.

I am pretty sure that Dynamic and Linear Clicking won't require much more effort to reach Platinum since I feel like these depend more on the lucky run compared to Static Clicking.

About static clicking, while I feel like 1w3ts is feasible if I don't miss any micro, the other one, ww5t, felt like my full speed just wasn't enough to reach Plat, even without mistakes.
For this reason I hope the night will bring me the required power up to be able to clear ww5t

sleek canyon
#

Spent literally 3 hours on ww5t trying to beat my "final boss" as first but the best I got was 1280.
Still good improvement from 1190 but not enough yet.

I just tried to be faster without thinking too much about the technique.
I think that my main issue is the lack of coordination right now. Too many huge overflick and underflick so I think by simple practice I should fix it

sleek canyon
#

Finally managed to Plat ww5t. It took 2 additional hours, 1300 twice, a nightmare...

As soon as I finished with it I decided to go for 1w3ts since for static clicking I was already "warmed up" (10x times that amount lol).
It took only like 15 minutes before I demolished the previous high scores and got a full plat score.

I feel like in terms of my current speed in static, if I didnt make any mistake I could be at least diamond and thats a big improvement compared to yesterday

Now 3 tasks left to complete platinum

sleek canyon
#

Platinum Complete, finally! My hand can now rest for today xD

Today I started by playing a playlist apart from Voltaic, which is called "Movement", because I wanted to improve my coordination between aiming and movement which I think is essential for FPS games. Was very satisfied with the results (went from about 30th percentile to 95th in a scenario).

After this I went back to my Voltaic grinding and, since yesterday I achieved Platinum Complete I decided to start from Precision Tracking cause the last time I touched it was 2/3 days ago and also because I was "vaguely" warmed up with the Movement playlist mentioned above which wasn't too different from precision tracking...

I did Tracking I routine (VDMI) for a bit (around 20 minutes) focusing on the 180 centering scenario, because I noticed I became very uncomfortable, for no valid reason, when I got to the extreme angles, and tried to think what movement I should be doing.

Finally, I started doing the PGT benchmark. After just first 5/10 minutes of practice I was hitting a Platinum score a decent amount of time and was very happy. Basically a Platinum Score run was just a "fine" run and nothing more than that. After 45 minutes I got my first Diamond score achieved not by accident xD

sleek canyon
#

Secondo Diamond of the day in Snake!

These are my current benchmark ranks:

#

The progression was very comparable to the PGT scenario. It took 1 hour instead of 45 minutes but mainly because I did many "almost diamond" runs as shown in the picture:

#

By the way I don't know what is the common approach to this, but I plan to complete every rank as top priority since i think this promotes more the spaced repetition principle.
I won't try to specialize in a given scenario

sleek canyon
#

Diamond in VT Aether too! 3 Diamonds in a day lol, didn't expect it at all

sleek canyon
#

4th diamond of the day in VT Ground!

It took me longer than the other scenarios, probably because it was very energy demanding in terms of moving mouse a lot. The second bot was the biggest culprit behind my efforts. Sometimes it oscillates so frequently that there isn't much to do, but most of the times I think I was too tired to follow it properly xD

sleek canyon
#

I think I'll stop for today. Reactive tracking, especially VT Ground, stressed too much my hand. It would have been better idea to do Control Tracking before that :/

sleek canyon
#

Speedrun to Diamond Complete from Plat Complete

sleek canyon
#

Tomorrow I plan to get Diamond in Control Tracking, which I think is feasible given today's results, and to go for Clicking after that

🐐 ❗
Goat alert!! Bro is cooking fr

#

Seriously stellar progress in tracking 🔥

sleek canyon
#

I am struggling a lot with Control Tracking right now. 2 hours and not so many Plat scores. Managed to get a PB yesterday (about half between Plat and Diamond) before I decided to call it a day, and it's still my PB. I could see this was harder already yesterday but today it seems even harder than I thought... maybe I should do VDIM routines which I completely skipped today... xD

sleek canyon
#

Today I managed to get only 1 Diamond in Raw Control. I honestly expected more after the poker of diamonds of yesterday. I tried many ways to make it easier (A bit of Advanced VDIM, wearing sleeves, random sensitivity, …) and in the end what clearly worked was just doing mini-pauses to rest and stretch my hand/wrist which were pretty sore. In fact every time i did this my average score increased a lot. To put some numbers I was doing 30 sec/1 minute pause every like 5 minutes of playing.

#

I actually also got near to Diamond in the other Control Tracking scenario but didn’t manage to get it…

So this is how it ends today :/

steady knot
#

those are some tuff scores, nice work

sleek canyon
#

Today I haven’t played much, probably 4 times less than previous days, not because I lost interest, but because today… I realized a long term issue, my mouse, a great mouse overall (g502 lightspeed), is a MEME for aiming, with its weight that doubles the modern mouse xD. So spent HOURS trying to understand my OPTIMAL pick for aiming (Gemini 3.0 must hate me rn), and HOURS to understand where to buy it since I wanted it ASAP but NOBODY had it (op1w 4k v2)…

Anyways, also today… I managed to get a DIAMOND in the last tracking scenario! And compared to yesterday I AM HAPPY because this time my hand didnt feel like ABUSED . It actually RESTED and RECOVERED, ready for tomorrow for the real deal (but let’s keep this last part hidden from it)

sleek canyon
#

Also today got the daily diamond in FlyTS, but I feel like spamming too much the same benchmark scenario is not ideal to improve unless it is something like static clicking that it’s hard to deconstruct… so I was wondering that I should add more diversity maybe.

Anyways:

#

old image lol. here it is

sleek canyon
#

I wont be able to play much today so I dont think Ill be able to get a new Diamond score today

#

But I am still very much motivated. I actually cant wait for my new mouse to arrive. I just hope it wont take too long for me to adapt to it since this is supposed to be a speedrun isnt it?

#

But going from years of using a large and heavy mouse (g502), 120g to a small one, 58 g, might be too much of a difference to adapt to it quickly

sleek canyon
#

And instead....

2 DIAMOND SCORES on Floating Heads and Popcorn!

#

I must admit that, since I didn't have much time today, I went for moving targets scenarios which seemed to be my strength so far and I wasn't disappointed...

sleek canyon
#

Today no Diamond.
It is hard to accept but didnt play much time, and when I did I focused on static clicking which is probably the one on which I am more behind

#

I think that static clicking is the queen of type of scenarios, and that getting better at it would help on the rest the most, so it might be convenient to do it before the other ones.

So tomorrow I'll keep doing it but I might also do other scenarios to stay motivated if I start to get a bit bored doing the same thing over and over xD

sleek canyon
#

As I said yesterday today I played static clicking. Improved my PB but not enough for Diamond. To be honest I am not try harding anymore, because my new mouse will arrive soon and I think that improving mouse control furtherly on a different mouse won't translate completely into the new one. For example, more practice might solve the issue of the mouse feeling stuck, but maybe with my new mouse I won't have that feeling to begin with....

sleek canyon
#

Today I did Viscose benchmarks, Easy and Intermediate. Nothing really surprising I think, just that in many scenarios I will go from 20 percentile to 60 after few attempts (in the Easy one) xD

After that I went back to Voltaic and did a bit static clicking benchmark and I could tell my aim was on point, but since I didn’t have much time left, and probably wasnt lucky enough to get a lucky run, I didn’t get Diamond yet.

By the way, tomorrow my new mouse should arrive, can’t wait for that!

steady knot
#

🇼 consistency + well rounded improvement!!

sleek canyon
#

There is much to say today…

My new mouse has arrived, and not just that… because I also bought something to raise my laptop, gaining several advantages (better posture, mousepad more centered, and screen more close).

To set up the whole thing and other stuff I didn’t have as much time as I wanted to play, and when I actually played I needed to adapt to the new “scenario”.

But… I adapted pretty quickly. After about 20 minutes of static clicking I felt like I was as good as the previous day. And what about tracking? My first 3 scores were horrible, but I adapted even faster here, so that in just 10 minutes I managed to PB a scenario in which I already had diamond…

So no diamonds today? Well… I wasn’t very lucky in static clicking… made 4 PBs one after the other and still no diamond, because I would just start miss clicking every single time after many promising first half runs, but in the end… I made it, and not by little! Diamond in 1w3t, finally!

And after that… a second Diamond in a switching scenario that I dont recall the name xD but you can see that in the following image

#

And, I actually didn’t realize this until recently, but… I am DIAMOND. A weak one, but still diamond! POG360

Interesting fact is that today I played with no audio the whole time, because I felt like the audio was distracting me from paying more attention to the crosshair visually

sleek canyon

Got Jade in DriftTS.

Tried a bit EddieTS and got even a PB, but I think it would be more efficient approach to do static clicking before the other remaining scenarios to jade because these depend on static clicking which I have to do anyways for jade complete.

worldly swallow
#

any tips for tracking men?

sleek canyon
#

If my score average for a certain scenario is pretty much the same after 1 hour i might do VDIM or Viscose if it is about tracking

sleek canyon
#

Today I spent my time for an overall improvement with more focus on the Clicking.

I probably could get few more Jade Scores if I really wanted that, but I thought it would be better to improve the Clicking which takes more time to develop, at least for me.

However, I was near the Jade rank, so I had to get another Jade score, and....

#

Jade Rank achieved!

worldly swallow
#

LETS GOOO

#

i suck at static

sleek canyon
#

Today I started with VDIM on Clicking but then got curious about Valorant Voltaic Benchmarks, so I spent time on there. There were scenarios I played just once and was satisfied with the rank or result and few others I started as unranked and spammed up to 30 minutes to get Plat. In other words I could definitely push more but wasn't interested in that, not now at least.

It wasn't just about being curious but mainly about training with something different. Even though I spam voltaic benchmarks 80% of the time I believe that training with something different can be helpful.

Anyways here are the results

#

Actually before this, since I had to open Aimlabs anyways to do valorant benchmarks, I was curious to see how I'd perform on Sixshot and... my high score went from about 95k to 110k after few attempts.

I also felt like I could do much better than that in few more attempts but failed to do so because something about Aimlabs seemed different from Kovaaks besides having same settings, but who knows, maybe it was just me not being used to different colors and different crosshair.

After Valorant Voltaic benchmarks I actually spent a bit of my time on aimlabs benchmarks, but focused on few scenarios about tracking

sleek canyon
#

Alright, it was a long day and I trained a lot with more emphasis on the clicking.

Today I didn't even try to get a Jade score, and so no Jade scores for today. I generally look to rank up every single day but today was an exception which I hope will help me more in the long run.

Tomorrow will be different though. I plan to quickly warm up on VDIM Clicking I and then I'll go all in for clicking benchmarks, so my strategy will be to jade the most difficult ones (at least for me) before the other ones

worldly swallow
#

my worst is also clicking and i want to focus on it

sleek canyon
# worldly swallow can you share to me the playlist for clicking

Yesterday I did Voltaic Valorant Benchmarks which are more focused on clicking + VDIM Clicking I, but I generally do just a bit of VDIM Clicking I focusing a lot in first scenarios, in particular 1w2ts horizontal and vertical scenarios spending even like 20/30 minutes on each of them if I am not satisfied with the results. I think pokeball also good if your flicks are weak compared to your micro, but horizontal and vertical scenarios are my favorite ones.

I think also that just playing the benchmark is not bad in general, especially for static clicking, cause it is pretty basic already so you can't really decouple much more the skill components required (flick, micro, ...) in training scenarios. Also benchmarks scenarios teach you how to put all necessary skills together, but yeah if each single skill is just not enough, for example you spend 1 hour in a benchmark scenario and you don't see improvements, probably the raw single skills are not enough and it would be better to train them separately.

#

The most important thing, however, is to stay motivated in my opinion. If you feel much more motivated playing the benchmarks just go for it. Being much more motivated means much more focus and better results on top of having fun. This overrides basically everything else.

sleek canyon
#

Today I did VDIM on Clicking an got great results there (96% percentile in either horizontal or vertical scenarios, both 90%+), but I didn't really feel the difference when I spammed 1w3ts. In fact I didn't even manage to have a new PB there even though I got near it multiple times. Every single time my first half was good, my second half wouldn't be so. No lucky runs.

If we look just at the results, it was a big failure today, considering I have focused more on clicking since 2 days, but I am confident tomorrow I'll be able to show progress. In fact my technique has a bit mutated during the day: now I do a proper flick, in terms of speed, every single time, while before it was a bit inconsistent and also the quality of the average flick was worse.

Last thing worth to say is that I did like 5 minutes of tracking as a "rest" in 2 different scenarios (precision and reactive) and it was on point pretty quickly. I actually did a new PB on reactive tracking at my second attempt. It is very promising, but first I need to get rid of Clicking and other scenarios to rank up

steady knot
sleek canyon
steady knot
sleek canyon
#

I think Zeonlo is also using bardoz method, in fact if you slow down the video you will clearly see the flick and the micro, but he manages to execute everything so smoothly that it seems a single thing at normal speed.

I can’t smoothly flick and microcorrect either, but I think the issue is not much theoretical but most likely that I still don’t have the coordination which needs practice. To speed up the process today I’ll try to care a bit less about the high score and focus more on the movement

sleek canyon
#

Forgetting to say that Zeonlo uses also underflick strategy. Bardoz didn’t talk about underflicking in his video ive seen but both strategies don’t go in conflict and you can use both of them.
My top priority is executing Bardoz method properly though. I feel like underflicking might be useful (while not a fan of it conceptually it seems best so far) but if your flicks are bad there isn’t much it can do.

sleek canyon
#

FINALLY a lucky run. Actually I think I should do mini-breaks more often since I perform well frequently after that

steady knot
#

Great job g

#

💪 always nice to see hard work paying off

sleek canyon
#

Wanted to do the other static clicking scenario as well but hand and even mind too tired for that. Tried a bit of tracking, linear clicking, and switching but still too tired to rank up anything. This 1w3ts sucked too much energy.

Anyways, I was wondering whether it is normal that in tracking I feel near my "peak" after like 5 minutes of practice, while in linear/dynamic clicking I need more time, like 20 minutes at least, and in DotTS even more than that.

Actually, about DotTS, I just don't get why I take so much time to micro when the flick is not on target. It seems like I take much more time compared to static clicking. Maybe it's the health bar distracting me or idk... thinking about it I played it without audio (due to ear fatigue, it wasn't planned xD) and so mayeb for this I put too much attention on the health bar... still I don't even need to look at the health bar cause I can just stay on target a certain time... anyways, on DotTS I felt like a nice run would be enough just for platinum and so didn't really feel improved here

#

It should be enough for today, so I'll leave here my current situation

sleek canyon
#

Today got 2 jades and 1 good PB in Pasu but then I had to give up… didn’t even touch ww5t lol

#

Tomorrow I’ll have a chance to complete Jade but ww5t is so hard that it alone might take more than 1 day

#

Thinking about it, I might have taken less time to reach Master Overall than going for Jade Complete xD

#

But actually I don’t even have a Master score so it’s hard to tell how hard it would have been

sleek canyon
#

Forgot to report what happened yesterday... and that's also because NOTHING happened xD

ww5t is just too hard for me... I can see small improvements day by day, but it seems to require much more time than tracking.

Anyways, I'll keep doing it until I get jade. Today I got my PB after less than a hour, but with much less accuracy compared to the previous one, so speed is increased but still not fullycomfortable with it yet

sleek canyon
#

So... I started with ww5t, then after sometimes I realized my hand was tired and that I wouldn't be able to improve my score as long as it is tired, so I decided to do a bit of tracking...

Managed to small PB first tracking scenario and then got back to ww5t and... I had so much energy I was very fast. Didn't manage to PB but I finally was decent with a much higher speed, so I think tomorrow will be a good day!

sleek canyon
#

Today only a small PB on ww5t :/

During a 1 hour and half pause I decided to do tracking and casually got 2 master scores lol

#

I wish my learning speed for static was the same as for tracking

sleek canyon
#

Today small PB on ww5t, then Master on Raw Control and then... the most important thing, which is:

The realization I can let my subconscious mind entirely deal with the micro-adjustment and dramatically increase my speed. It's not reliable yet, and I struggle to enter this "mode", but I did decent scores with much lower accuracy thanks to it, and I wonder if I'll improve much faster doing like this

#

Anyways, this is how it looks like right now

sleek canyon
#

Was curious to see how I'd score in the Advanced benchmarks for the scenarios I got master score and not too bad I think... (ignore all the other scores that were taken time ago xD)

steady knot
sleek canyon
#

Since this is supposed to be a speedrun I shouldn't have done this, but I couldn't help it, so I made a side quest: trying to get a grandmaster score in one of the precise tracking scenarios, I picked Snake Track, and...

After getting Master score on it just 2 days ago, I managed to get Grandmaster!
It was hard, spent 3+ hours for it, but honestly, it wasn't as hard as getting Iron from Unranked back to just 5 weeks ago xD

sleek canyon
#

Completed Master in Control Tracking.

Made a good score right away (like 3750) and felt my smoothness was next level thanks to the grandmaster score grind, and probably really was, but this new smoothness I unlocked sacrificed a bit of reactivity and I think I need time to blend everything properly.

In the end bringing that score to 3825+ required hours. Thought I’d be done much earlier.

#

About ww5t, I keep training it every day and every day I see little improvements which do not necessarily coincide with a PB, so I am chill

#

I’ll do Pasu once I rank up ww5t, not really interested in it right now

#

Tomorrow wont have much time but I’ll try to do 50/50 ww5t and Reactive Tracking

sleek canyon
#

Speedrun to Aim Improvement

#

Changed the title to give a better idea to what are my intentions and priorities, even though it might not be as catchy as before xD

sleek canyon
#

Today didn’t have much time, however however…. finally got Jade in ww5t!

#

And you know what? It felt quite easy…
It took me around 20 minutes like most of the times to warm up so that I got back to my previous peak, but after that my average score kept increasing drastically, in fact I hit a 1480, then 1470 and finally 1510 in a small window. And the 1510 run felt far from perfect.

#

After getting Jade in ww5t I had 1 more hour that I spent in Pasu looking to Jade Complete but, unfortunately, I didn’t manage to get Jade in it. Missing the target seems to be penalized a lot, so I tried slow to medium speed when hitting targets most of the time, but later I changed to a faster speed and I think it might be the most convenient way, touching 1120+ score in the first 15/20 seconds before ruining everything xD

#

The idea behind the change is that, even if you try to be slow to be more accurate, you can’t be much more accurate anyways because the target might still do that thing that makes you misclick most of the times: changing trajectory in the exact moment you commit to micro-adjust and click

#

Anyways, tomorrow Pasu for Jade Complete and then Reactive Tracking, that’s the plan

sleek canyon
#

Jade Complete!

sleek canyon
#

Was planning to complete Tracking but, since I was near Master, I decided to go for it. Wasn't able to reach it but still a good progress

sleek canyon
#

Tomorrow morning I’ll make a last attempt for Master Overall if I have time, but I doubt

#

Then I’ll have to leave and I won’t be able to grind for 2/3 weeks at the very least

#

which sucks so much cause I couldn’t wait to complete master and seriously start the Advanced Age

#

On top of this, I am kinda scared my progress will vanish as quickly as it was

#

I might be able to play 30 minutes per day actually, but I don’t know if it’s worth to do considering also that the setup will be different and bringing my mousepad wouldn’t be very comfortable

steady knot
sleek canyon
#

Ok today before leaving I managed to play 30 minutes, just the time to warm up for Popcorn scenario, but not enough to PB. Yesterday night played a bit more in the end but got only a small PB in FlyTS which I forgot to report but nothing crazy.

With this said, I wish you the best during this "big" pause. Since the setup will be different (mouse, mousepad, laptop position, ...) and I need my full attention completely on other stuff during this period, I don't think I'll touch Kovaaks at all during this period. I hope I won't lose the "magic" and the motivation when I'll be able to grind again.

Thanks for everyone's support, this will be my final message for a while.

sleek canyon
#

Alright I am back after 2 months and the situation... is not good xD

Premise: During this time I opened Kovaaks very few times (like three or four) and played an average of like 10 minutes each of this time, with different mouse, completely different mousepad, and different setup.

Now... finally managed to play with my good setup, good mouse and all, and played for less than 2 hours...

My first scores, especially in tracking, were TERRIBLE, like PLATINUM or lower even in scenarios where I am MASTER already. After about 20/30 minutes for each scenario I did I kinda improved and my highest score was DIAMOND level, but still far from how good I was before quitting.

It's kinda annoying to go re-learn stuff, but I am aware that it should take less time now to get back to my peak.

By the way, CLICKING felt less punishing after this pause, but it felt like my hand would get tired much quicker during the run and that would be the main problem for worse scores, not much the technique. In fact there were first 15 seconds of a run in which I was going even faster than my PB.

While on TRACKING the thing is entirely different, the coordination eyes-mouse feels much worse than it used to be.

#

Just to give an idea xD
