@raven quest
I have been plateud for a long time, with the occasional pb out of luck but no real feeling of progression, everytime it seems like I'm progressing I haven't been able to replicate the same performance and my average score floats up and down staying roughly the same. I have tried changing technique in my flicks with some success but other than that no real improvements have occurred.

140 hours in kovaaks, training daily whenever I have the time to in sessions of 30-120 minutes (varies)

#

the biggest change ive done since beginning aim training was investing in a new & faster mousepad, lightweight mice (60g from 130g my whole life) and changing my grip to conform to the smaller mouse. I feel like I've adapted to most of these changes pretty well except the grip, a lot of the time my grip feels unstable causing me to under / overcorrect micros and I lack a stable feeling on the mouse

raven quest
#

Its not working for me

#

Ok nvm @crimson moon

#

Ok basically you are playing static all wrong

#

Watch MattyOW's static flcik technique video and come back with a new vod and any questions

slate thorn
#

it literally looks like you're forcing yourself to do the bardoz method literally and you're taking so much time to switch from flick to micro, no fluidity at all

raven quest
#

It just flinging the mouse around

slate thorn
#

isn't it one rly fast flick then one slow micro?

#

or do you mean that the flick is way too fast

#

so it's basically just flinging the mouse around

raven quest
#

I mean that’s a gross oversimplification of it

#

You can do the principles of it and do them totally wrong

#

But the flick is not in control

#

And the micro adjustment is very jagged

#

Seems like an unnatural movement

slate thorn
#

oh

slate thorn
#

"I must do one very fast flick and then slowly micro to the target"

raven quest
#

Yeah but approaching it like that is wrong

#

It is meant to be one fluid motion

#

Just that the motion is gonna be slower at the tail end

#

But you dont want to think about and “and” in the thought process of the movement

crimson moon
slate thorn
#

by lew

#

and mattyow fluidity

#

too

raven quest
raven quest
#

Bad

slate thorn
crimson moon
#

so I shouldnt be flicking then microing?

raven quest
#

Can’t be fluid without good bardpill

raven quest
slate thorn
#

oh so that's something they should learn after getting good with bardpill

raven quest
#

There is more to it than just those two things

crimson moon
#

the other method ive heard is to flick, release tension on the intial flick then micro with low tension essentially letting the mouse glide to the target which ive had more success with then bard's method but both i still suck it

raven quest
slate thorn
#

what do you think about this vid?

crimson moon
#

can u see where the confusion comes from tho like I have no idea how to play static because everyone has a different opinion on it and I feel like ive wasted all my hours because I dont know how to train lmao

#

I watched mattys video on static

#

ive watched all the videos

#

everyone has linked me and looked them up on my own

#

ive tried playing slow, ive tried fast

raven quest
#

It’s not even shade

crimson moon
#

when I play slow my accuracy is to high so people tell me go faster, but when I go faster my tension becomes to high to micro and my technique falls apart

raven quest
#

All my static knowledge comes from a celestial static player

crimson moon
#

ive even listened to probably 10-15 hours of podcasts trying to understand the correct technique from many of the voltaic members alike and still am clearly doing something wrong

raven quest
#

It is 1 thing you do as a base

#

Everyone does it

#

Anything else don’t listen to

#

You’re not good enough to do it

crimson moon
#

ok so where do I start then

#

can u point me in that direction

raven quest
#

Watch the static fundamentals video by Matty

#

And watch vods from Bulldog

#

Observe what he does

#

Slow down the vod

#

And see how seamless his technique is

crimson moon
#

ill rewatch it and try to apply it and get back to you and let you know the results?

#

ill post a vod as well

raven quest
#

You gotta think a lot when learning new static stuff

#

Which then you can make autonomous

#

And that’s where you start to get good scores

crimson moon
#

I get ya

#

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOsBjfOGMuU this is the video in reference correct?

Bulldog was a big help to me in learning how to perfect my static technique to hit better scores. Because of how saturated the category is with very skillful players, it's tough to keep up. Fluidity is a hard concept to implement, so do not be discouraged if you still find that your scores are not moving despite putting effort into it.

I love ...

It’s a few years old

Yes that one

#

Ignore the fluidity fundamentals

For now

@raven quest im confused man, hes just repeating what everyone else is saying. flick to the target, micro adjust, 2 motions. I understand that, I'm doing that and still not getting anywhere. my vod looks like im not doing that because i just suck at it hence why its innaccurate and messy.

I can upload a vod of me going slower to prove to you these are the motions im doing

#

I can even try to setup a handcam if that will help lol

raven quest
#

That’s where you are wrong

crimson moon
#

thats what hes literally saying in the video

#

7:34 timestamp

raven quest
#

At the highest levels of static, it looks like they don’t even micro

crimson moon
#

i am using different muscle groups. Im using my arm for the flick, then my wrist and fingertips for the micro

raven quest
#

Because they have so much control over their flicks and seamlessly transition into the micro

raven quest
#

And your tension is out to whack

#

So your micros are hard to perform

crimson moon
#

honestly I dont think its my tension I think its my mouse grip

#

in the vod I gave to u i had bad tension management

#

I have since worked on it

raven quest
#

It is your tension

crimson moon
#

and my tension is okay now

#

my grip makes it really hard to microadjust

raven quest
#

are you playing a full palm grip?

crimson moon
#

no

raven quest
crimson moon
#

relaxed claw

raven quest
crimson moon
#

but my whole life I have aimed on palm

#

this mouse doesnt really let me do that tho

raven quest
#

and you have enough room in your grip to use your fingers

#

only time you dont is on full palm

#

you dont need your fingers to make huge movements

#

just small adjustments

crimson moon
#

but i dont understand because I relax my tension then the mouse has no tension on it which makes my movements floaty and inaccurate, to much tension and they're jittery and I can't seem to do just the right amount

#

at my current tension level whilst playing im barely even holding my mouse

#

its just in my hands almost

#

I can try to upload handcam

#

if that will help

raven quest
#

You don’t release all tension

#

Or else you have no control in the stopping power of the mouse

#

You release the excess tension that you used to complete the initial flick

crimson moon
#

yes ik its like a balance, release tension for the flick then reapply tension for the micro to be accurate but I cant seem to apply the right amount of tension for the micro I guess

raven quest
#

I’m being nitpicky here

#

But you don’t release tension

#

You release excess tension

crimson moon
#

I use my thumb and pinkie finger for stopping power by applying tension to the mouse

#

mhm okay

#

be nitpicky and specific tho thats what im looking for because all the advice I get is so vague I cant seem to apply it realistically

raven quest
#

I mean I can also say all of this

crimson moon
#

"just flick and microcorrect" doesnt help me

raven quest
#

And you still won’t do it right

#

Because it takes a shit ton of time to get good at static

#

I have too many hours in it and I’m decent at best

crimson moon
#

I have noticed that considering I have progression on tracking categories but static still just doesnt ever move

raven quest
#

That’s because the way you’re playing you’ll never improve

#

Basically

#

Also you can have bad tracking form

#

And still get better scores

crimson moon
#

i can upload a rawcontrol vod if u want to see

#

maybe can spot some imperfections

raven quest
#

I’m bad at tracking

#

Good at static

#

Let’s focus on the task at hand

#

But if you’re under nova you are doing something wrong on tracking

#

As a baseline

crimson moon
#

wouldnt by that reasoning mean that 99% of people here including your self have incorrect technique

raven quest
#

You don’t have great technique until Astra

crimson moon
#

fair enough

raven quest
#

But anyways

strong wave
raven quest
#

Focus on replicating the technique of someone with a good static base, say someone at a nova level

#

Make your initial flick fast but controller

#

And seamlessly transition into the micro but take your time with it

#

Finally take the time to confirm your shot, adjust again if you’re not on target

raven quest
#

But it’s also just playing more

#

You don’t get good without playing

strong wave
#

Do you figure Ben's video about blending the micro into the flick would help to make the landing softer / micro easier?

raven quest
#

That’s what I said

#

But you still gotta make sure to release excess tension

#

Or blending the movement won’t lead to a softer landing

crimson moon
#

i appreciate the advice but honestly im now just more demotivated to continue then when I initially started considering to the best of my attempts and knowledge I am trying to replicate good technique yet am clearly failing to, even though in my head I am and can't see any other realistic way (to my brain at least) to do so.

and according to you I'll never progress until I master this technique which apparently Im still not even doing so I'm not really sure how to progress from here or whether I should even waste more effort on it altogether since it seems kinda pointless at this point.

Just curious, have you seen Ben's video about Flick Control Fundamentals? It's relatively new:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YX_jf1vnLo
In a few parts of it, he shows how to blend the wrist / fingers with the arm flick itself in a pretty intuitive way

Chapters:

0:19 - 4 Flick Components

0:56 - Tension Breathing

1:25 - Chaining / Cluster Farming

crimson moon
#

ill watch it now

#

havent seen it

#

yes I have seen this video although ill give it a rewatch

raven quest
#

Take it one step at a time

strong wave
#

Cause to me, by doing that type of action, you can then do the micro after the flick in a smoother way, less downtime after the flick, and it requires overall less tension cause you spread the tension / load between the arm and the wrist/fingers more

raven quest
#

You don’t gotta flick so fast

#

When you can’t control

#

So have a fast but controlled flick

#

Have the ability to have control over your movements

crimson moon
#

by definition flicking is an explosive movement of the muscles tho no? thats what seperates it from just moving the mouse from target to target, how can you slow down what is a fast muscle movement and not cross into just moving the mouse from target to target which is no longer flicking?

Maybe I'm over complicating it im not sure

raven quest
#

You can flick slower

#

But still get from point a to point b

raven quest
#

And I don’t mean by dragging your mouse

raven quest
crimson moon
#

never thought about sharing the tension, usually when I flick the tension is held in my arm for the initial motion, I release the tension after the muscle movement then hold tension in mainly my wrist and fingers for the microcorrection

raven quest
#

The idea to slow down the end of your initial to allow for easier micro adjustments is really good

#

But requires a lot more than you think

#

Ignore it for now

#

Just bardpill

#

Nothing else

strong wave
raven quest
#

Ok I gotta go to bed

raven quest
#

But just try and get like 1% better with your static

crimson moon
#

@raven quest appreciate it a ton

#

means a lot

raven quest
#

And null don’t say anything too stupid

crimson moon
#

gn brother

strong wave
#

lol

raven quest
#

It’s easy to confuse people with static

strong wave
#

I'll try man

raven quest
#

And if you do it makes things hard

#

In a way

strong wave
#

I just don't want him to get too disheartened and quit

raven quest
#

Because people think too hard

#

And that is where problems arise

#

A logical amount of thinking is needed

#

But at the end of the day you flick from point a to point b good

#

That’s static

#

s-cream

crimson moon
#

I mean im going to keep going I won't quit its just motivation to continue is low that is all which means going through the motions of my routine is more of a discipline than a want / desire and the enjoyment of it is removed a bit that's all

raven quest
#

I’ve been through hell getting gm

raven quest
#

Now I’m calm

#

Going for nova

#

It’ll be easy

#

I have no concerns

strong wave
crimson moon
#

im curious now that you say that, in regards to pure aiming ability / mouse control, what category do you think has the most reward for time put in to skill acquired. for me so far its been tracking and doing smoothness since I feel like its just made my aim a lot more calmer over all in game

raven quest
#

Raw smoothness

#

Then control tracking

#

If you’re good at those two things

crimson moon
#

yeah i figured

raven quest
#

Astra is easy

#

This season

#

Because clicking is learnable and static will just be left at nova

#

And speedts too

crimson moon
#

my friend is gm ts and gm seems to follow him in every category but he still sucks at static

#

that being said he has great raw aim

raven quest
#

GM is cool

#

But then you realize you’re like the best of the worst

#

Nova is way cooler

#

And better

crimson moon
#

yeah i heard the ranks got a lot harder as well over the years. my other mate who was gm 4 years ago now is platinum

#

I dont know if thats how the ranks have shifted or hes just lost most of that skill due to not training but its interesting

raven quest
#

The seasons have gotten harder

#

And if you don’t play for a while you lose stuff

#

Especially at GM

#

Because you might not even be good

#

Just good on the bench scenarios

crimson moon
#

interesting

#

well wont keep you longer
