You also click targets more than once sometimes; good technique involves one shot attempt per target then immediately move on

Over time you want to at a glance be able to see if you did a Good Flick or a Bad Flick
A good flick requires no micro correction or a very small one; these can happen very rapidly due to the small range of motion, and you can anticipate this happening by paying attention to the texture of the wall behind the dot as you approach
People use different terms to describe this idea; I like to use the phrase, visual processing because it highlights just how much of this confirmation happens before you arrive due to your ability to perceive space as you travel
