#Static Clicking, bardoz method? Metronome method? Smooth is slow? What is the correct way?

Recently I have done the benchmark and as you can see i am just iron. I want to first clarify that I have been playing fps games for 2 years now and today in 2025 I want to reach at least grandmaster for all categories.

  1. The bardoz method states that your initial flicks is fast (Aping) and take your time on the micro adjustments, The issue here is since you must do the fast motion which causes my aim to either curve and not create a straight line or worse by the time I try to micro adjust realistically my opponent should have moved or killed me. So I don't know if I should be still doing this plus when I ape my arm I cant do initial flick and micro adjustment in one smooth motion.

  2. The metronome method seems to be a meme for the aim community, I want to know more. I tried this for one week with one rule, if there are clusters I must aim for wider targets instead of the shortest ones. (What I mean is if there is a cluster I find one that is far get back to the cluster and repeat) I found this to be the most effective for me as a beginner (despite 2 years of fps gaming). Theoretically this is "bad" from what I have researched since I am pacing myself for a speed that is either too slow or not realistic for the games I play.

  3. Which leads to smooth is slow. Isnt the whole point of training is to get faster and faster? Why am I getting bombarded with information that speed is what you need with flicks? I thought the saying “Slow is smooth, smooth is fast” is what we usually do when we do with something unfamiliar? Why all of a sudden we go against the grain of years of basically a proven tested fact?

Anyway I would like to point that I am not arguing but giving points. I appreciate if you would include your insights!! Highly appreciated and I am open for criticism if my question seems dumb or naiveYEP YEP

Firstly, I want to say that 2 years of fps games is not a lot at all. And going from iron to grandmaster complete within a year (if that's what you meant) will be a big challenge.

  1. When doing the bardoz method you just need to try and keep straight lines and you will improve over time. In games you may not use it all the time but its worth learning imo. Your opponent most likely will do the initial flick onto you and they could get lucky but a lot of the time they will miss (in a similar way to how your initial flicks miss), they probably don't aim train and probably won't try to micro correct. This can often allow you to get the kill but not always.

  2. Metronomes can be useful mostly for dynamic clicking, due to the bot spawns you want to kind of "juggle" the spawns. This is more to push scores in aim trainers, if your focus is to improve in games then this may not be for you.

  3. I felt the same way as you when I started, you can't rush speed with bad technique or low accuracy. MattyOW says to focus on both speed and accuracy, so go as fast as you can while remaining above a high threshold accuracy. You want to be reactive, urgent and responsive but without "aping" as you call it.

It all depends on how much time you want to put on aim trainers and if your goal is to be a great all round aimer or if you want to target a specific game.

Do not do the metronome method. you should set your own pace, not the metronome. You dont wanna rely on external factors for your aim training.

You should watch riddbtw aim training crash course and it answers all your questions on each individual category, and if you need more information you can watch Matty OW "unraveling secrets of aim" videos to help you as well!

im one click from being jade in static, before i was just ripping it for like an hour and my scores went up till now where im sorta stuck, now i just focus on using way less tension and making sure im confirming im on target before clicking, my average score has gone up but at certain point you gotta slow down and build up your technique to progress
