thoughts on this thread @mighty mulch
it’s very long
tru
i think dudes are in their heads too much
agreed
saw videos analysing the peeks 🤣
@mighty mulch as an immortal player what is ur advice xd
too much overthinking, play more, change what you're doing if you're getting owned
Focus on your movement, things like dead zone stafing in fights, stop ads long range please you move at 0.8 hip fire speed, give your teammates good comms, drink water keep your area clean and you will be at least diamond, your actual aim is good just a mental thing, don’t feel good? Don’t queue, nothing too do with adhd or whatever don’t use that as an excuse you just got lost in the sauce
honestly the best advice here
overthinking is hard to stop doing, my brain just does it naturally
i've been playing/training for the last week trying to unlearn some habits that i thought were "correct" habits (stuff like taking longer to confirm a shot, focusing more on strafe bursts over spraying, prioritising accuracy over speed, etc.) and I've honestly been performing way better than usual; although there's still a ways to go
one of my biggest problems is that i tend to trust in advice from better players even when it makes me perform worse; i usually assume I'm "doing it wrong" or that I need to just keep trying it until it works. then when it doesn't I get really frustrated and lost
https://youtu.be/3xMUwOKdIXU?si=oxXa8RdxI1M4Qojk&t=190 here's an example of the ads crouch thing s0m does in some long angle fights that i was talking about (he loses this fight tho). i remember thinking it was so weird he does this cause its like the opposite advice that people tend to give for these fights

S0m plays Viper in Val...
Tet your aim's amazing btw
it just looks decent cause i'm mostly posting clips that i only took cause i hit my shots. it's not nearly consistent enough for me to be happy with it atm, thanks though ❤️
maybe he does it to catch people off guard? like idk its really stupid the guy is 100% better then me at the game but idk why he is doing that, either way that shit is not working in lower elos
i think hes crouching on that angle because he wants to be able to see the sova's head if he wide swings
i've seen him do it fairly often on other angles too
Thats what i have been trying to tell you just run your routines play the game thats it
tbf, when i made the post i was whiffing much more and i really was bot fragging in like at least 50% of my games - while i was training and DMing and playing and had done for a while
its only in the last few days that my performance has gotten noticeably better and that could be due to a bunch of stuff; but its likely cause i started prioritising speed over accuracy and started practicing spraying a moving target
like i said, i've had bursts of decent play before so idk if i'm 100% out of the woods yet but i'm putting up pretty reasonable scores that don't feel anomalously bad for the time being
Thats good if you got better performance but don't look too much at your tracker it will only make you think you are a bad player and you will play worse than normally etc
also, do i get onetapped here cause he sees me trying to short peek?
Yes and your crosshair placement is bad if he was the place you checked first you are dead
should i just not do the little tuck back in and just commit to swinging out furrther?
It depends honestly here i would just wide peak like an idiot personnally
lmao i wanted to but i was scared of peeking into 3 and i was kinda getting cooked this game
and you can jump peak or smth like that so you can see the whole mid pretty much and no risk of dying
yeah i did that one round and never again for some reason. also i didn't even really notice how bad my xhair placement was till you mentioned it, i didn't realise i needed it so low for that
maybe jump peek/wide swing is just way better so you don't have to deal with all the elevation bullshit
Also you can peek faster than this instead of stopping to prepare to shoot just keep running using D when you crosshair is at the good place press A to go left and there is timing in which you can shoot in case you see someone
yeah, i've heard people say they do that but it always seemed crazy to me cause i never felt like i could react that fast. at least not without swinging way wider than i wanted to
Jump peeking is really good you won't die in most case and get a lot of information just carefull sometimes you like this imagine have info B haven if you jump peek very close to left wall of vent you can easily die from a b haven guy
U aren't expected to kill the guy in most cases i mean if you really know he is there you can preshot etc but its just faster so you don't get punished
you're talking about like jiggling out and then reacting with a shot during your standstill if you see someone right? am i right in thinking you're commiting to doing the opposite strafe at a certain timing and not doing it off reaction to seeing someone?
I don't think you can do it based off reaction time consistently so first answer maybe tenZ with his 140 reaction ms could personally i can't while i have a pretty good reaction time i think
aite cool, cause i cant do it off reaction so i wanted to make sure i wasnt weird
honestly you just pick up these mechanics as you play more. your crosshair placement isn’t always going to be level or perfect so you just have to do what the situation demands. if you end up crouch spray dumping your mag on a guy’s body so be it, I’m imm and it still ends up like that sometimes.
yeah, i definitely spent too long trying to make things clean instead of just doing whatever gets the job done
people joke about it but at the end of the day, a kill’s a kill no matter how you get it.
feel like this scenario reflects a lot of troubles i have with hitting shots in game. i find it rly difficult to read the bot's movement fast enough to get the shot off so a lot of times i'm just trying to anticipate it, feels almost exactly the same as losing fights in valo cause my opponent changed their movement in some way.
is this normal or are most people able to keep track of the target better than me?
i also rly struggle with siniclick for the same reasons
pretty fun task
@torpid dune any updates on ur progress??
soloqueue still v frustrating to play but thats for a bunch of different reasons
v v stark difference between how i well i play when i know where people are/know what to do vs when i don't. probably mental stack overload making me do rly stupid things sometimes but that's a tough problem to fix
been doing the micros playlist almost every day and i'm rly struggling on a few tasks that involve movement, which lines up well with how hard i find fights when my opponent is strafing decently. gonna keep at it for a bit and see how much better i get just from the playlist
also went back and redid the valo benchmarks since it had been a while since i did them and there are 3 tasks i just cannot get diamond on for some reason. will give it another month or so before i redo them and see where i am then.
Ayy well keep it up. Do you like the new abyss map?
wont be able to tell until its in ranked rotation. seems like it has some neat/interesting features but as someone that hates breeze for how many super long angled fights you have to take, i'm a lil worried about the size of it. you played much on it yet?
ok, after watching a few more vods im p sure i've identified the main problem, i almost always lose strafe fights/any fight where my opponent changes their movement in some way. a HUGE amount of my whiffs are either shooting at where my target was or shooting where i think my target will be but they change their movement and i whiff
i think this means my dynamic clicking technique is poor? if i had to guess i'd say i've been relying too much on predicting bot movement when i should be trying to click directly on it. in any case, i've made a dynamic clicking playlist that i'mma focus on for a little while to see if it helps.
any other suggestions are super welcome since i'm kinda just guessing at what might help here
I’ve not been playing much val. I played a dm on it and it took so long to finish but i think the map is nice for ranked I like it. And I think for professional games it’ll be mega fun to watch
