#Struggles with focus (Target & Crosshair)

I feel like this has been my biggest issue that has been holding me back for a while now. I struggle with the ability to focus on my crosshair and targets when playing in game as well at times in aim trainers.

When aim training I feel like when playing scenarios that require multiple targets even when i force myself to focus I can only focus on the targets for maybe 3-6 kills and then i go back to just "autopiloting" per say. Same thing in valorant, in deathmatch while i still struggle to focus on my crosshair when clearing angles/working on crosshair placement I do a relatively decent job at focusing on my target. All of this goes away when I'm in game however, I feel like I end up losing most of my duels not due to my gamesense, positisitioning, movement, etc. I lose them because I fail to focus on my crosshair when holding/clearing angels and when in the middle of a duel I fail to focus on my target which has led to me to also struggle anticipating positions where enemies are playing which basically decreases my ability to react in time as well. In rare times where I do focus on my target I win the duel the majority of the time and I tell the stark difference.

I was curious if anyone had any tips/routines they did that helped them focus on things in game/when aim training. I've tried various eye tracking routines (n0ted) and have dabbled in meditation and those do help and I've honestly just struggled to do those things consistently (more than a week+) I'm planning on just creating a routine for myself to stick to for at least a month so I was wondering if anyone else had similar issues and had methods of how they went about fixing it.

Feel free to ask me any extra questions because I understand I could have written this in a confusing way to understand from someone on the outside looking in.

@steel plume have you ever thought you might be too focused on trying to have your crosshair in the right place or too focused on trying to track the enemy with your eyes. id really recommend trying to play a little more relaxed. focusing on your crosshair or the target makes it so you have to process more things just relax trust the raw aim you developed and see how it feels.

#

most people aim train to skip out on thinking about aiming mid game :p

Imo, focus on your target not your crosshair, but for practicing crosshair placement, just play DM to work on cutting the pie, vod your ranked games, and watch some pro gameplay to see how they clear different angles
Don't think about it too much, just aim, you need that brain for strats and other stuff

No I dont believe thats my issue at all, I feel as I completely disregard focusing my crosshair and my targets movements when playing the game. When I force myself to do so for a round or in deathmatch my aim is far better compared to when Im just playing normal. My issue is i struggle to force myself to do this consistently.

The target will not always be on your screen when clearing angles/holding angles etc. When I mean focusing on my crosshair i mean focusing on my screen in general/the general area around my crosshair. My issue isnt that I don't know how to slice the pie, path or clear angles im extremely proficient at that. My issue is that I physically cant bring myself to focus on what im shooting at.

Like you have a hard time getting focused entirely on the game, flow state/locked in?

I thought that was my original issue and maybe its still an issue but I dont think so. When playing I always make a plan of what I want to do pre round, call for util etc, but once the round starts i simply end up losing focus on my crosshair. I notice these issues arent as prevalent when I play reyna

have you tried changing your crosshair

steel plume

I used to change it a decent amount a while back but I'd honestly just stuck to the same one for a while because its what I preform best on.

When are you most focused during the rounds. is it a consistent amount the whole round. i was thinking maybe you could manage your focus better to focus more when you needed it and relax a bit when you didnt.

Idk I'd just work on direction your attention while in game
Round start is all anticipation, calculation, planning
But once that's set and you swing that first angle you just have to be 100% ready to kill looking for heads to tear off
You know the plan, you know generally the positions people play and how they play it, until you've secured an entry or map control there's no need to think about other things besides winning that next 1v1

Identify win con and focus on that (looking for info, vs getting a pick, vs delaying time, etc)

if there isnt much going on maybe lower your focus and save some focus for later

This is what I have attempted and I go into games with this intent Its just the fact that I struggle to do this consistently. Like I statically outperform on pistol round compared to buy rounds. I just have struggled on how to make it a habit and I'm just trying to figure out how to drill it into my consistently. Because this isnt just an issue in game I feel like my aim enables me to have much higher scores than I do currently in certain scenarios in aim trainers but my ability to focus on targets (specificly in pasu/dynamic scenarios) casues me to miss way more than I should because I cant seem to remember to focus on targets to confirm my shots. I usually end up focusing once I have a good start that I know can be a high score and I end up focusing on the targets a lot easier. Its hard to explain but I just feel like I struggled to enable focus not the fact that I cant focus.

@steel plume how many games do you play on average/ how much do you aim train. you might be overworking yourself and not taking enough breaks

Aim training varies but sometimes i dont train at all sometimes i play 3 runs of 1 scenario sometimes i grind for around an hour.
Ranked various but I play a lot.

But I think you're completely missing the mark on my issue Levi, the issue gets worse the less I play not better. I don't feel as I have an amount of focus that im over expending. The more effort I put into focus the better I actually focus, lessening the effort would only hinder me.

@steel plume ah i get what you mean now ive had similar issues recently. its really hard for me to be consistent without warmups. try starting every gaming session with aim training and when you feel your aim is tapering off do some form of training to boost it back up. Aim training for 30 minutes before playing then doing 10-15 minutes of aim training after every 2 games has helped me an extreme amount.

#

but im pretty sure any sort of warmup in an aim trainer might help you a ton

#

without warmup i whiff a lot and react slower.

#

it almost feels like my brain doesnt really turn on without it LMAO

This will help you, assuming that your struggle with the ability to focus on your crosshair and targets when playing in game should be an "unconscious" thing

#

as if you should be able to do it, without even having to think about it when taking duels, I mean if you have time and really want to learn more, go read the book trust me you will benefit from it way more than you think, changing the way you view things instead of trying to change things is sometimes the right thing to do .

I have the book but haven’t gotten around toto finishing it mainly because i struggle to apply things i read from books to real life

#

I’ll go back and reread the entire thing
