If you don’t know what us is like we can tell you

There’s p3 to p5 which is like kindergarten

Where 3year olds to 5 year olds go

Then

Primary school

Which is 6 years

From like 7yo to 11/12 yo

From 12yo to 16yo

Secondary school is a must

After that u can quit already

Or

Go to bachelors/ high school

Which is 2 more years

After those 2 years when u r around 17/18 u take a test

Of every subject

The marks u get on those tests + ur avg marks on the 2 years of highschool give you a total mark

Which determines what degree and at what university u can study

It’s like similar to CPA or whatever it’s called in the US

Most university degrees are like 4 years long

Besides double degrees which are 5years long and medicine which is 6 years long

If I had been doing maths or physics I’d be a graduate this year

In like less than a month

And then u can do like a masters which is extra study

Like u specialize in smth

And that takes like 1 year or 2

In the US, we start with preschool and kindergarten, which is basically what P3 – P5 is in Spain.

After that, you enter what is called the K-12 system, where you go through kindergarten all the way up to 12th grade. First through sixth grade is called elementary school

Then there’s middle school 6th-8th grade sometimes 7th-8th grade

Then you have secondary or high school which is 9-12th grade

The school system in Aruba is basically that but its still very much different

So the difference here is basically that in Spain, they only consider high school to be your last two years of what the K-12 system is

But for us, the last four years are high school

After secondary school is post secondary, or colleges and universities

You can elect to get a two-year associates degree or a four-year bachelors degree, but both of these are considered undergraduate studies

After you have a bachelors degree, you can take another two years to get your masters

After you get your masters, you start working on what’s called a post doctoral project and basically when that project is completed, you get a PhD and reach the top of your field of study is

It depends. Anything involving a university accredited program is considered undergraduate.

But a lot of people, especially computer science, but also sometimes disciplines like nursing will do what called certifications

But imagine you want to be a doctor

These are pretty simple; you just take a short series of classes and pass a test and pay a fee for a board to certify you and Bam you are certified

So if you want to be a doctor in the US, you have to complete your undergraduate degree then afterwards you have to get accepted into what is called med school

Med school is another 4 to 6 years of studying, which is often why doctors immediately are considered a doctor of medicine upon completion of their program

In Aruba you enter basisschool/elementary from 6-12 and then you either go to mavo havo or vwo but there are so many diff tiers in them but in Aruba they just count the highest tier of mavo havo or vwo, mavo are for normal people havo are for smart people and vwo are basically for Einstein’s, after finishing mavo u can finish the rest of havo 2 years then go for your bachelors, and for those who dont wanna go to havo can go to mbo and after MBO u can go to HBO which is bachelors and after HBO u can go to WO

The last step of American medical school is what’s called residency

And that is 4 years

Of residency that we call here

Its considered working already

But it’s underpaid compared to

Complete doctors

To put it in a way

Basically, after a doctor completes graduate school med school, they become what is called a resident. They are basically a doctor from a general perspective, and are now working in their field, as a resident to gain experience in their speciality. Once the residency is complete, they get to become a full doctor.

But yeah, becoming a doctor is particularly taxing because you have to complete undergrad, then grad, then a residency, and medical school is considered to be extremely challenging, and a lot of students burn out in the process of trying it

Because here we finish med school at around 24yo and there u finished at around 26-28

Three to seven years, five years minimum for surgical residencies

I mean in Spain most ppl finish residency at around age 28

I’m trying to work on a career in K-12 or collegiate Esports

I am mainly working on a Masters because one it is being completely paid for so why not and two it will be relatively straightforward since it is a degree field I already have a lot of knowledge in.
