In plenty of cases you will find that 'calling' while going through the motions and/or trying things out.

For the longest time I was clueless on what I wanted in life. Eventually I got my internship at a videography workplace, and ever since then I have a vague clue that I want to do something with video and/or photo.

As King said - you are not alone. The amount of people that exactly know what they want are not plentiful, and you'd be surprised with how many suffer from this exact dilemma.

Many don't know what the purpose of life is, but only we can dictate that.

So don't put too much pressure on yourself. Allow yourself to heal and get stronger, and allow yourself to explore your options. Try things out, and something will stick eventually.

Do it on your own pace. Society might make you feel like that things need to be done before the age of X/Y, but in the end it is your journey and happiness, and not someone elses.

This is way easier said than done, but try to mainly look after yourself, rather than weighing in the opinions of your surroundings too much into it.

The reason why I didn't quit my education sooner was due to exactly that: I was afraid I would disappoint the people around me and that quitting would be considered a "failure"...

... But I woke up the next day, I was still alive, I was still healthy, nothing was broken.... The world just went on, and the only difference that there is is that I have no paper.

Also, the people around you are more than likely much more supportive of you than you might think. I only knew after laying my emotions bare, after thinking the opposite for so many years.

Take a deep breath mate, and give yourself the space to explore on your own pace. The only deadline we have is death, and death will be many decades away. Time is the only real currency that we have, so spend the time in a way that makes you happy.

Same here. I kept looking up tutorials upon tutorials on how to edit and do specific effects, or how to develop "my style"...

... But all of this is something you actually learn along the way. You learn your style with experimentation and what not.

I love montage work myself, and I always kept overanalyzing those videos and watching tutorials on how to make those, but I never decided to take the action to finally start editing. I was stuck in that "analysis paralysis" for so long that I never created a single video.

Eventually I broke through it, made one, was semi happy with the results. Then my next one got better, and my third one even better

But that only happened by starting. And not because of those tutorials. I never even used most of them. It all just took some creative liberty from yourself 🙂
